Notes from last years spring game. Jefferson, Lee, Mett

Here are excerpts from our 4/11/2011 report:
“Jordan Jefferson started the game impressively, but struggled in the second half and ended with only four completions in 14 passing attempts. In total offense, Jefferson's stats were decent as he passed for 102 yards and rushed for 31 yards. I was a little disappointed in the play of Jarrett Lee who completed 9 of 14 passes for 63 yards but made a few poor decisions that a senior quarterback should not make.”
“I was very impressed with Zach Mettenberger who has all the tools to make LSU a great quarterback. Mettenberger threw two passes over 50 yards to Rueben Randle that Tharold Simon made great plays on. Mettenberger did complete a 60-yard touchdown pass to Kadron Boone on the first play of the second half which really got the crowd on their feet. While Mettenberger is an outstanding prospect, I do not expect to see him receive much playing time this season because of Miles' loyalty to his upperclassmen. Mettenberger completed five of 8 passes for 86 yards and one touchdown.”

question. Everyone generally agrees that Lee would have probably given us a better chance to win the NC game. but do you believe if Mett had started from game 1 we would have still gone undefeated despite his lack of SEC QB experience?

Yep. How many games did the QB have to play well in order for LSU to win? I am pretty damn positive he could have done a better job in game 14.

while we'd never know, I do honestly believe so. Only game I'd question is Oregon. Lee made some pretty cluch throws that game that an inexperienced QB might have not made. I think his progression over the season would have made us a better team in the end. But thats all here say.

Wow, how prophetic. Essentially, we ended on 1/9 like we began at the spring game.

Yes.
I say this because I truly believe that we won all of our games in spite of our qb play and not because of it. We were just THAT good in every other phase aside from LB play.
What I believe is that, by the time we got to Bama last November, he would have been hitting his stride as a QB and we win that game by a larger score than 9-6, thus never playing Bama again last season.
Ask yourself this. Do you think Mett has as much talent and confidence than AJ Mcarron? I say he has more. If AJ could lead Bama last year with no SEC experience, then I say Mett could have led us to a title last season.
All that said. We will be a nighmare for everyone this season. Period

How does he figure that 4/14 is better than 9/14???

I agree with all 3 of ya'll that answered yes and for the reason that pretty much every game was a blow out without above average passing. We really did not need any "clutch" game on the line type QB play that you generally get from an experienced starter bc of the running backs, HB7 and the defense, plus special teams scoring as much as they did.
