Not trying to stir up anything - Honest question about QBs

Do you think if Jefferson shows no improvement from the beginning of the year to the end of the year, like he's on track to do right now...will the coaches completely open up the QB battle between all 4 QBs (Jefferson, Lee, Shepard, Garrett) for 2010, or stick with Jefferson as the named starter through spring/fall camps?

It's going to be wide open in the spring. I expect Lee to take it, personally. I would be excited as hell if it shakes out like this..
1) Lee
2) Garrett
2a) Jefferson
3) Lee (current commitment)
I think Lee, Garrett, and Lee again will be better for us in the long run.. we won't have to change "systems" so often, etc. We've got pro-style QBs in waiting, might as well tailor the offense to fit them.

this would be a great movie qb gains starting job then loses it for a season then regains it the following year ( if he does in fact win the position)

except for the fact that no one wants to watch a movie about a mediocre football team

When has Miles ever "tailored" an offense to fit his talent?

Question back to you: do you think if our offensive line gets worse during the season like it has, will any of the qb's get better?

Don't think its a coincidence LSU's last two starting QB's (Lee, JJ) have become near basket cases as their season has progressed. Initial mistakes seem to be allowed to continue to the point both young QB's lost all confidence.

First thing that needs to happen before you can answer this question is what type of offense do we want to run. Are we going to migrate toward a true spread option attack or try to stay a power running team.

Who says the battle is closed for the starting position is closed? Look, these guys (all of the QB's) are looked at every week to evaluate how well they are progressing. I've seen it posted several times the feeling that Les is paranoid about the situation created by JL last year with the pick 6's. I think there is probably some truth to this theory. As I recall, JL WAS NOT THE ONLY PLAYER LAST YEAR TO MAKE MISTAKES! Well Les, Get The Hell Over It!!! Your QB is going to make some mistakes. Your OL, DL, DS, ST all will make some mistakes. Someone needs to break out the Jim Mora tapes to remind him of what happens when you play not to lose. Get some balls Les, let it go. Personally, I think the kids need a legitimate QB coach. Obviously Crowton is failing to meet expectations in this department also.

2006 and 2007 were done well. The 2008 offense fit the personnel also. 2009 comes and we're running some goofy arse quasi-spread.

I dont see a point in plugging in a new QB until we get some coaching at that position. Lee nor JJ seemed to improve with more playing time.
