Read it carefully.
They couldn't do the blood test because of the immediate need for surgery. I don't think the test would be very accurate if they just soaked up a little of the blood from the floorboard of his car.
Dude, did you see the sarcasm emoticon at the end of the quote? Of course they could have walked in and had a doc get about a one once vial of blood.
How convenient they didn't is what it meant>
Im happy for him and LSU they didn't, but of course they could have!

I like how people on here send their prayers one day and the next they want to play detective and find some kind of trouble for this young man to fall in. If you really cared for his well being you would still be praying!

Why is everyone trying to prove that he was drunk? Either way, he never got tested or arrested and they will never be able to prove it so move on.

medically you would need a tox screen though since it could affect the medical treatment... I'm not a health professional yet, but I worked in the ER for years and all traumas got tox screens and BAC.
There is no way they could have gotten the results of the tox screen back fast enough to treat a trauma victim. In the case of a severe trauma, which this seems to be, then you may collect the samples but you aren't waiting on the results to start treatment.

When I worked in an trauma ER we'd get the Bloodwork run stat to see if we needed to get ready for blood or not.
Of course you treat ABC's first and foremost, but bloodwork is extremely critical in treating a trauma case. Especially if it is suspected someone is drunk.
Just my opinion.

I worked for a couple of years in an Emergency Response Unit of a local fire department. (ERU was sent out for medical emergencies, MVCs, etc.) I realize that they way we handled trauma patients is obviously quite different than they would be handled or treated in a hospital. But....
Regardless of the presence (or absence) of evidence of drugs, alcohol, communicable diseases, etc., we treated each patient as if they were intoxicated and had HIV. Better to be safe than sorry. So each and every drug that we gave them had to be safe (or as safe as possible) in regards to interactions with alcohol and a whole slew of drugs. We also wore protection from bodily fluids. I guess I just assumed it would be the same in the hospital.
I realize and agree that blood samples were taken, or should have been, prior to going into surgery. Just didn't think the results would have been back in time.

In a accident that has a serious bodily injury, propable cause is out the window. You can not refuse a test when there is serious bodily injury. We don't know all of the facts. They drew plenty of blood for the lab before going into or while in route to surgery. Read between the lines people. I'm sure Jones has suferred enough so let it rest.

why do people assume the worst of the guy? i swear it seems like people want him to have been under the influence..
I really don't see Chad (or his brother) as a big drinker...but I really have no idea what he does in his personal life.

No one is assuming the worst, for me, it is just a good laugh for anyone to sya a blood sample couldn't be had at the hospital. THat's just dumb.
I love it, good ole Louisisan politics in action! Great for Chad and his family, just in case.
If that would have been a Bama player, we would have taken the entire leg off for a blood sample.
