With the tramsfer portal already open and our announcement to increase NIL I have some thoughts and questions that maybe you guys can give some insight to.

So I’ve been keeping up with the portal, for the first time ever maybe, and so far the elite players in it have already been offered and sound like they have narrowed it down to either 2-3 schools. Examples eaglestaff, Elliot Cadeau, pg from New Mexico, guy from drake, McNeely from Virginia. Big man from San Diego state, and the one from North Dakota State. All these guys already have offers from UNC, Duke, and even schools still in the tourney like Bama, Auburn, Texas Tech.

So my questions are:
1. Are we Late to the portal and haven’t made offers yet? Cause these guys dont t seem like they will be up there very long and sure, we could be waiting for teams in the tourney to lose and hope they have a lot of big time kids who wanna transfer but it seems risky?

2. Is it possible no matter how much of. NIL we receive that we can not land players in the top tier due to our lack of success?

And before anyone jumps my shite about information about whose already offers who, it comes from a collaboration of multiple Sports media. They might not all be exactly right, but they are prolly not far off

1. Nope we aren’t late to the portal

2. Nope, more NIL funds = more top tier players. They good ones only really care about the strong arse offers

Other schools can offer just as much as us plus they can win. The money won’t change anything among the elite.

See that’s the way I look at it, elites want to go to contender who is gonna compete and develop them for the NBA, they will get paid large amounts by the blue bloods anyway.

The NCAA tourney is showing the failed logic in this argument. NIL is benefitting the better programs not the lesser. The only mid tier P4s who’ve improved are doing it by hiring good coaches not by purchasing elite recruits or transfers.

Nah the good ones are 1-2 years and gone. Not really looking for the NBA development, just a big check and a post season run

Yeah this is it. The kids really dont care about the money they just want to play on a winner.

The reason I say that is cause I mentioned a handful of the elite players above and saw how who had offered them and they were all big time programs.now everybody’s elite group is different but I just named the ones they all had in common. So that would mean there are 20 more elites in the portal who are waiting on thebiggest paycheck? I hope they all enter the portal after the tourney then lol

What’s to explain? They lost to a mid major in round 1.

We're "late" as far as the NIL funding narrative - I have my opinions on this - but hopefully we've been identifying players we can land and probably have to overpay.

Depends on the players priority. $20k more or take less and play where you're getting more exposure.

So why are the winning schools even paying them anything?

I don’t have to explain Missouri because maybe they are not handcuffed by poor coaching? That’s not saying we are,but that will be another conversation after the end of next year.

Also, the reason I’m asking these questions is because many people on here believe our increased NIL should be able to land us a handful of solid players including the possibility of a big splash.

Your argument is

Money > money and winning

You don’t see a flaw in this logic?

I think you figured it out.

Duke has a great incentive program, not only does the player get top dollar but his family and extended family get put up in a million dollar home in Durham at no cost. Thats a good deal.

Why are winning schools Paul g them anything? So it was said Zion Williams was paid 1 million dollars when he went to Duke, I dunno if that’s true or not. So you pay guys like that so they choose U instead of say UNC. It’s more incentive or “the icing on the cake” when choosing between the blue bloods of the basketball world. Either way ya getting developed and you xoosure, so why not go to the highest bid between them?

They also made it 2 years ago and won an NCAA tourney game as well. His first season there. Why leave that out?

I think many of the top players knew where they were going before they entered the portal. The others are waiting to see how big of a bad they can claim. LSU might be able to purchase a top player but will likely be claiming the “scraps” that the top teams don’t take.

I hope you're being sarcastic.

Dudes have been handed suitcases, open the trunk, forever.

The point would be, if you have the same offers, you're going to a program where you have a coach that is honest with development and you get to showcase your role.
