QBs have to stay tighter inside the pocket vs these defenses, and then its their own o lineman blocking their vision from coverage schemes and rushing d lineman.

Speed Bumps?

winnah!!

Speed bumps only slow you down temporarily, not stop you. Once you roll over it, back to normal speed. Don't know that we'd want a defense known for that.

Yeah. Isn't it terrible that one has to consider others versus the good old days when you could denigrate and stereotype others at will.

You're joking right? Do you really think the Chineese Bandits is really a denigrating nickname?

Dunno, seen some people try to run over speed bumps a little too quickly, with hilarious results.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Chinese Bandits weren't a full time unit as I understood.

They do not have to be on the field all the time only when they are needed. For the most part the Go Team was the offense, the White Team went both ways and the Chinese Bandits was strictly Defense. At other times it was a mixture of all three. At any rate back then if a player was the best at a given position they played even if it meant they went both ways. Jerry Stoval, Warren Rabb, Billy Cannon and several more never left the field except in certain situations.

So yes the Chinese Bandits was solely a defensive team and that is why I say bring back the name if they live up to it. We will find out after the first game if they can live up to it or not.

I Vote "Chinese Bandits"

I Say!

Oh yea!
For your information the name of Chinese Bandits was for the way they stood together as a single unit to defend their turf not as a band of renegades. It was a name that stood for good not evil like some folks have taken the History of our Country and rewrote History to satisfy their own agendas by removing anything they felt offensive from our History that helped to shape this great Country into what it is today. By removing them from History does not teach anything, one learns from the mistakes they make and correcting them not by covering them up and pretending they never happened.

The Chinese Bandits where part of LSU's History much like Coronell Reb was for Ole Miss. I think it is a shame that great school had to go and change their mascot to satisfy a small majority of people. The same goes for all the schools that had to make the change. Those schools served to help grow a lot of young people that went to those schools for their education and at the time did not find it offensive to attend. I'm saying this for I am 1/2 Choctaw Indian and I do not find it offensive to be a mascot of a given school.

If I have affended anyone in anyway I'm sorry but I felt I had to say what I said, I did not start this arguement I'm just stating my feelings on it. This is a sports board not for political purposes.

Is that true? If so, damn. I say that because he has really long arms which makes bench press that much more difficult for him.

Hopeful Name: Mighty Mites

Pessimistic Name: Bend and Breaks

Politically Incorrect and Irrelevant to LSU name: Buttpirates

By the way, can anyone find a posting of the actual defensive player weights?

Contemporary standards
DT 285+
DE 250-300
LB 215-250
CB 185-210
S 190-220

Of course, you get a few smaller and larger players in each position who might bring something special to the game, but I think in general, effective players on top 50 teams at these positions fall into the weight categories.

If a player is outside of this range, he better bring something really special. Otherwise, you wonder if the team just lacks players in that spot.
