I imagine that "Chinese Bandits" will be viewed as politically incorrect. Heaven forbid, we might offend all our Chinese fans. It was okay in 1958 but not in today's upside-down world of political correctness.

The biggest difference is at DE. We will be playing guys in the 240-260 lb range instead of 280-290 lb range. Our DT will be up to size come the start of the season. Nevis was out during spring and people are just repeating what the talking heads were saying on ESPN because they were using an old roster with old player weights. Mingo was not 209 and Livingston was not 265 in the spring game. They have put on weitht since last August.

Small ? Who cares ?

How about the first guy to the ball wraps up and make the tackle. If that happens we can call them...

The Best D on the field.

I do like the Speed Bumps though.

How big are they, though? Montgomery and Mingo both look to be under 250. That's SMALL.

Yeah. Isn't it terrible that one has to consider others versus the good old days when you could denigrate and stereotype others at will.

They were both 230-240 at the end of spring. Keep in mind that the period between the spring game and fall camp is the longest work-out period for the team and most guys trying to put on weight will likely add during those 5-6 months. We will have to wait and see the numbers the first day of fall camp when the players are weighed. Also, Chavis likes the smaller, faster DE's and has moved the bigger, slower guys inside. Brockers and Livingston were our big DE's and they will be rotating in at DT.

You said it before me but, I think they remind of the original Chinese Bandits of the National Champions of 1958. That team was athletic and smallish on the line. They had good LBer play and their DB's were the stringth of the team that year.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Chinese Bandits weren't a full time unit as I understood.

Last update I got was Mingo 235, Monty 250. That should put them on target. Mingo is just so strong(top 5 bench-entire team as a RSF) that he can be extremely effective at 235, with his speed and length. If he gets above 250, he'll dominate. He's just that athletic.

How about we call them the "Zone blitz defense" because thats what they are. Expect to see a lot of stunts up front and forced turnovers. Also expect to see some huge break aways against them when Chavis sells out and guesses wrong. All in all, I like it better. Its more entertaining just like a pass offense is more entertaining than a big smash mouth offense.
