thanks for sharing that story - good to hear, sorry to hear about your friend.

I dont spend much time following recruiting - primarily because there isn't that much really exciting news.

Now thea "Soup" is on the staff, we're hoping to see more 4* + receivers come to Iowa...which is already happing.

Since you live on the left coast of the state you're probably aware of Weigher. Some posters are goo goo about him. If he's the real deal - I believe it when I see it.

Thugs?

Your'e thinking of Douglass and about 15 other kids that have come and gone since solomon caught that pass.

Solomon was a good kid.

I thought Holloway caught the pass. Solomon was the guy who chunked his helmet at the student section at the end of the cap 1 bowl, and had about 30 or so LSU students ready to jump the fence and fight him.

Oh yeah, I'm from Harlan so we play them every year. He was a beast by all accounts. I'm now 7 years outta high school so havent seen him play but apparently he's a handful. He was basically Heelan's team this year.

You heard rumors about illegal "bonds-like" drugs? someone on the Iowa high school boards alluded to it. I wouldn't put any stock in it and it's sad to hear someone bring that shite up but it was interesting nonetheless.

How good do you think Davis is? (the WR recruit who's playin in the Under armour bowl)

Also..........I'm an Iowa fan, always will be, but what the HELL is their problem with discipline? Talk about a school who has issues........

Good, that's where I want to go. With a new DC and stronger QB play I think we'd put on a great show and kick off the new year just right!

Would be fun for me for us to play Iowa too!

I can't believe that I said solomon caught the pass. Yes Hollowa.

I never heard the story about Solomon throwing his helmet.

I was there when it happened. I wasn't one of the fans wanting to fight, but I do remember #88 throwing it and it hitting the bleachers on our end and Solomon taunting us.

So help me Tigers.

What were the top 3 issues with LSU's football team this year. I know its very difficult to come back and repeat. But I think that everyone was a bit surprised to see LSU drop 5.

I see 2 issues and they led to a third:

1)defensive coordinators did NOT know how to scheme for shite. (we are as talented as anyone)

2)Young and inexperienced QB play.

led to:

3)players getting frustrated with nothing to point to for solace.

Teams can overcome bad defense with solid QB play (Big 12 teams) and teams can overcome fair to average QB play with solid defense (our last two titles) but not both. Just my opinion.

As I watched UGA-LSU play. I noticed the talent and speed. But something was missing by both teams. Both teams gashed each other on the ground. You just don't see that among top 15 type teams.

UGA has a good offense and if they can play half way good D they will beat Michigan State. If they don't play D it will be a 45-48 type game. Ringer is a fine running back.

Discipline -

They had a top 10 recruiting class in 2005 and only about 3 guys are left. The team got some punks in the group and punks don't do well at a place like Iowa. They figure that they're hot stuff and Iowa is lucky to have them..so they don't put out and the ones that are good enough to play as underclassmen get lax and start goofing off. Others come in and get discouraged at D1 level competition and sew discord. (my theory). I think there were about 20 arrests and a lot of them were kicked off the team.

That's behind the team now.

Decent talent but still a lot of lunch bucket type guys

I hope SC gets the Outback.. if we get the Peach we're screwed. We couldnt stop D2 Wofford's regular option attack.. how the hell would we stop GTs triple option?
