Seriously why is Slaughter starting over Reid? I may break this into its own thread. Reid has delivered on almost every opportunity he’s had this year off the bench and his glove is solid.

Because Slaughter offers way more upside if/when it clicks for him.

He's a five tool college player potentially. You dont sit that kind of talent early season. If he's still struggling come SEC play then Reid is there. If he's playing to his potential come SEC play then he's a whole helluva lot better than Reid.

Cheerwine, thanks for all the work you do on these threads.

You do a tremendous job, but you never melt, what's up with that?

I'm too busy typing out pitches to type out melts too

But I also know that one game or series won't define our season. Of course there's a lot we need to improve on, but there's also a lot of time to get there.

Why would you not have the infield in?
Oh yeah, b/c Maneiri could care less about winning mid week games

If it was a weekend game, would the infield have been in, in this exact situation?

No. Pretty stupid to bring the infield in to try to cut off a run in the fifth inning unless you're in NCAA play and/or going against the likes of the 2017 pitching staffs of Oregon State and Florida.

Tonight is a prime example of why you don't worry about 1 fricking run in the fifth inning of a college baseball game. On the flip side, it would have been just as dumb to play for one run on offense in the same situation.
