I don’t understand why people are so hell bent on not wanting this to work if there is an incremental tax increase. Wouldn’t folks on here want their taxes to finally go to something they’ll actually benefit from?
I'm just tired of paying for everyone else's hobbies and entertainment. Pay for your own hobby. Add an extra dollar to every ticket, problem solved.

That’s exactly how this will work. The LSU economic zone taxing district is the only area where your sales taxes would go to fund this project. So when you buy your tickets, get a beer during the game, etc.

I thought that district was created regardless of the arena for the business to help each other improve things like security.. lights.. so now every time you buy a sandwich over on chimes ( which happens much more frequently then the occasional arena event).. they collect taxes to give to a group of guys building competing businesses on the other side of campus in attempts to keep business over there

Lots of “dealing “ going on..

It seems like they are spending the tax dollars twice. That doesn’t work. Either spend it on district improvements or a new arena. Telling people one thing and doing another seems to be their m o.

They aren’t given in perpetuity. It’s generally a certain amount of years.

This type of deal being discussed happens all the time all over the US and for projects with less than half the investment that this one is slated to have.

A TIF district can have multiple uses. As LSU’s already does. Northgate improvements and Nicholson Gateway.

They’ll have the ability to segment out tax revenue by venue/location
