he did not recruit Rohan Davey - was DiNardo.

Saban recruited the great game manager, Marcus Randall.

this absolutely couldn't be further from the truth. I was in Dental School at the time, and the Dean of Admissions(Dr Jim Weir) was VERY, VERY symapthetic to college athletes, and would let them in with significantly lower GPAs and test scores than the regular guys. I don't necessarily disagree with him either--there is certainly a hardship as an athlete with regards to time devoted to studying.

great point, Dr Weir was not anti Muack, it was others and he did NOT get admitted....was his first choice,

And he ultimately got into the University of Colorado Dental School, where the admission standards are bound to be at a higher bar for out of state students? He must have re-sat for the DAT or had a sympathy vote on the admission committee there somehow.

If I remember correctly, Saban initially recruited MM when he was still coaching at Michigan State. MM ended up playing minor league baseball before finding his way to Saban and LSU. As a result, he was a few years older than your typical college junior would have been and that likely played a role in his choice. He may have figured that his shot at the NFL had a limited window.

Just FYI, A good friend of mine is on the LSU alumni board in Denver and she tells me that Mauck is always at their gatherings for LSU games. Says that he's very down to earth and still loves the Tigers.
