GEAUX TO HELL OLE MISS
Burn it down.
People and Media keep telling me Ole Miss won a National Championship in the 60s. No, No , No they did not 1959 they Claim 1960 they claim and 1962 they claim.
1959 was Syracuse led by the Elmira Express Ernie Davis.
1960 Minnesota finished #1 in both AP and Coaches poll.
1962 was the great undefeated USC team. Ole Miss finished 3rd in both Polls.
During these years the National Champion was picked before the Bowl games. 1960 Ole Mis won it's Bowl game and Minnesota did not. So a 6 member board of writers voted Ole Miss Champs in the Football Writers Association of America. Grantland Rice Trophy.

But they'll always have 2003. It says so in the stadium. Oh, wait a second ...

quote:They annoy me too, but it helps to put it in perspective. National media knows (debatable) a little about a lot of teams. It’s mostly surface level unless they are a fan of a team or live near a school. There are a few exceptions, Josh Pate comes to mind, but very few.
National Media
They don’t know the deep details of LSU, Ole Miss, and the Lane situation. They should because it’s a huge story. And Marty Smith tried, but it’s all regurgitated info and half of it is misguided.
Fowler said it best, Lane is neither a villain or a victim. People blame the calendar and it does need to be changed, but it realistically can’t change very much. This situation will play out again very soon with someone else.

The national media is full of Alabama pundits paid by that university to spin a narrative. Josh Pate, Finebaum, McElroy, etc.

I never heard this before around 2013, so I suspect Freeze or somebody around the program drummed up 3 NCs as a propaganda point for recruiting.
And the first time I saw it was on a t-shirt worn by an Ole Miss fanatic (“3 Time National Champions!”). My dad and I couldn’t help but laugh at him.
Now, Auburn has made claiming bogus NCs into a hobby.
