coach miles gets more miles out of Katrina than John Brady got out of those Draconion Sanctions...

What miles? "Miles" are given when excuses are needed. He has no need for excuses for 2005. The guy flat out proved himself a leader. Plain and simple.

He waited WAAAAAAYY to long to do this....

In whose opinion? You guys are great at waiting 6 months after a decision has been made and the results are in to suddenly have all the answers. It would have made no difference. Once the 2007 season was over it became impossible to prepare another QB adequately.

Question, what will you say about Miles if he doesn't hire a new DC?? If he relizes it was a mistake, surely he will fix it, righ??

What will you say when he does?

quote:

it takes just one "oh $$$$" to wipe out a desk full of "atta-boys"...

Only in your negative little world.

and with the questionable decisions, he deserves questioning....

Questioning with respect or criticizing with disdain? Which is it?

there were many people calling for Miles to kick RP off the team well before he did... and i don't have all the answers, i just know this was a bonehead one..

get your head out the sand..

His flaws were evident before the end of the 2007 season...

If he does, and i believe he will, he will have done the right thing... but what will you say if he doesn't??

it's the real world....

It also sounds like you're a moron. People like you are so fricking insecure; you can't even admit a coach of another team is better than our own because you're THAT big of a homer.

It took a Tide fan to say it like it is.

Les Miles brought those kids and our program through that hell of a season with 11 wins and a Peach Bowl win over Miami. Only a leader could have done that.

I absolutely agree. I think Les Miles did about the best coaching job I've ever seen in 2005. There is no doubt in my mind that season would have been significantly worse if we'd still had Saban. Miles deserves the credit for the success of that season.

quote:

When he replaced our defensive coordinator with coaches already on the team, I'm sure he felt it was a decision that could work. Hindsight has shown that it was a bad decision and one that he now realizes.

We will see whether he realizes it or not. It is difficult, however, to understand how, having watched these coaches and players in action for the past few years, he could have misjudged so badly on such fundamental things as whether the coaches are being mouthed off to and cussed at by the players. This wasn't just a decision that happened to be wrong. This was a fundamental misunderstanding of the relationship between coaches and players who have spent the last few years right under his nose. How does anybody miss that badly on something that basic right in front of them?

quote:

After all Miles has done for this team and after tons of great decisions, I, for the life of me, can't understand the lack of respect, lack of loyalty, and lack of support you show him.

It's not a matter of loyalty, respect or support. It's simply a matter of judging a person's performance. I respect, support and have undying loyalty to my mother, but she is not going to win a national championship as LSU's head coach. It doesn't matter that Les Miles may be a great guy if he's not getting it done on the field. This year, obviously, he's not. That would be OK if not for the fact that there are strong indications that the problems that led to this year's failure are deeper than simply inexperience or a bad defensive scheme. There's a central, underlying problem with the soul of this team. There's no mutual respect between players and coaches or between players and each other. There's no sense of unity or identity in any area of the team, let alone the team as a whole.

If players have lost respect for him, and given up the will to play hard and try their best for him, no defensive scheme in the world and no quarterback in the world is going to get us back into the nation's elite. That is the problem. It looks very much like this is exactly what has happened.

You amaze me

I get that a lot.

An unusually intelligent and well reasoned post. You must feel very alone here.
