Ah, here comes another stupid fan.

Did Lee ever give up in those games?

Sometimes being thrown into the spotlight can ruin a player. But again we shouldn't throw the towel in on Lee yet. Still aggravates me how many morons booed the guy. Don't get me wrong it was rough at times, but booing? Unacceptable.

I don't agree with the booing either, but last year was really frustrating to endure. I think that more than booing Lee, people were booing the coaches for leaving him in there. After a pick six you just knew that Miles was going to put JJ in, and out would come Lee again.

It'd be interesting to see how the fans' outlook on Lee would be if he had a great defense anchoring the team like our two NC winning QBs did.

Giving up 50+ points against both Georgia and Florida was unforgivable. Having the Bama game in-hand only to have two defensive players give it away by being selfish and stupid is unforgivable. Allowing Ole Miss and Arkansas to score 30+ points is unforgivable. Having a handfull of players on your team quit on the season because we have an unexperienced QB who makes mistakes is unforgivable.

Having an unexperienced QB who makes mistakes should have been expected. (And, this goes for Lee throwing pick sixes and for JJ not being able to get a first down in the second half of both the Ole Miss and Arkansas games)

IMO, the team let Lee down moreso than he let them down. He's the unexperienced freshman that needed veteran leadership and instead he got a group of veterans who stepped on his throat when he needed a lift.

Crowton was certainly not able to protect the QB position as necessary last year due to the defense.

I agree with your post for the most part, but come on, Lee contributed to some of those unforgivable point totals and losses.

I was hoping for more than a JJ vs. JL thread with this title. But aw hell I'll join in. JL does not have a stronger arm than JJ but he does throw a more catchable, usually more accurate ball. JJ should start but we need Jarret Lee in case of injury or I still would rather him in a late game down two score situation.

he also didn't quit during the Ga, FL and Bama games. It's ok to question his skills and the problems he had reading defense, however, there is no real reason to question his character.

Yes, Auburn ended up sucking, but their defense was still pretty stout, and ranked at the time with this being a prime-time national game. I was at the game, and after Auburn scored late that place was as loud as any stadium in the country. That was a very tough spot for a young QB and he handled it well. Especially given the "Lesticles" call for a pass at the end when a FG would've won it.

For all you guys privy to practices and the scrimmage, has JJ's release looked ANY better than last year? Has he not compacted it any? I thought it looked better in the Peach than it did late at Arky and he'd continue to refine it.

do you not recall us having Bama 3rd and long twice on their game tying drive only to have one player punch a Bama guy in the face and another kick a ball across the field. Both earned unsportsmanlike penalties and gave Bama free first downs.

Lee had just lead us on the game winning drive.

I would put the Bama loss on Crowton (or whomever was calling the plays). The first pic was on a 3rd and long inside the 20 on a play that should've never been called (even if Byrd probably should have caught it). Then in OT, Scott had been gaining good yardage, no reason to put Murphy in at QB on 2nd down. Lee made some questionable decisions in the game, but he also led the team down to a tying TD late in the 4th quarter.

Last years team had a ton of problems, JL was just one of them.
Anyone who is an LSU fan better support JL and hope he's ready to play. JJ is a running QB and unless your Tebow (there aren't many of them) running QB's usually don't make it throughout a whole SEC season.
I believe we'll need JL at some point this year and he'll come through.

I know JL had some bad moments last year, but the D was a way bigger problem than the QB.
