Scott’s under a shite-ton of pressure to bring the men’s basketball team back to respectability NOW…
MM is gone before the end of March…
My question is, excluding Will Wade, who is the most attractive potential hire?
GEAUX TIGERS!!!

You throw everything at a big name hire and hope something sticks… like Billy Donovan.
This program is cursed.

I have actually tried to answer this question several times. Every time I dig deep into this issue, it is painfully obvious that Wade is the best option out there. He would be the best option, even if he had never coached here before, but given his familiarity and prior success, it is really a no-brainer.

Woody will NEVER hire Wade

But why? There are other good mid major coaches who are fiery, can recruit, and can coach. What makes Will Wade the best option if he had never coached here?
I loved the WW era of LSU basketball. I would love to have him back. I'm just wondering why you think he is the best option if he had never coached here. Take away his success at LSU. Would you be happy hiring the current McNeese coach? How would he be different from MM's resume?

I think it’s more about Tate than Woody at this point.
Question will be whether there is enough outside pressure to make Tate (and Scott) to bring him back.
I would have said no chance a few months ago. I don’t think it’s likely, but I also don’t think it’s out of the question.

Because he has a P5 conference title, and has proven it at every stop in his career. He’s not just an “up and coming” mid major coach.
He has proven that his style of coaching and personality is absolutely perfect for the NIL / transfer portal. Just look at the talent he has compiled in Lake Charles in 2 years.
Find somebody else that is in their 40’s and has his resume that is coming to BR.

Until 2 pm Friday and they can officially put men's basketball on the backburner again.

wade turned a disaster of a mcneese team into by far the dominant team in the conference in an instant. the W/L turnaround in the first year I believe was tied for or perhaps second best turnaround in the history of college basketball.
everyone knew this was exactly what he would do at mcneese, and then he did it. he is the best young coach in basketball. by far.
“I can’t wait to start the largest turnaround in college basketball next season,” Wade said at his introductory press conference last March. “We’re going to go from 23 losses to 23-plus wins. Remember I said that.”
The Cowboys improved from 11-23 to 30-3. everyone knew they would. wade said what he would do and then did it.
