Thank you! people need to get a grip with comparing him to the Diesel. Jesus that kid was an absolute monster. Please go watch some film of him. He literally was unstoppable

All I know is Hill looks like something really special in the making. I like him better than Hilliard and Ware. I'm glad we have them all though.

My dad and 2 of my uncles there at that time. They all played with Garry.
My dad and Garry coached together after Garry's career with Detroit. They coached 13-15 year old. After practice, the team would run 100 yard sprints and Garry would run with them. If Garry finished 1st, they would run again. Many nights, they ran for a long time.

Hill's long run Sat was very reminiscent of the Deisel's run against Auburn. A 230 lb back breaking a tackle at the LOS and then running away from DBs. I definitely see a similarity.
ETA: What Collins showed that we haven't seen from Hill yet was AMAZING balance. You could knock Cecil's feet out from under him, and he would regain his balance and keep going.

James was a good receiver out of the backfield, very fast, but not the power back that Hill is. Hill is so much taller that I don't see the comparison.
This....Between Dalton and James Gang, Dalton was the better back. Played against Dalton in High School and the dude was the most humble mild mannered Bad arse I ever met. Met James once after game outside of stadium and he was a complete jerk that seemed to think he was above everyone around him. Not big in stature at all.

I agree with another poster, Hill reminds me of the diesel!

James was all about just outrunning people. They would pitch it to him when we were inside the 5 yard line and he would out sprint the defense to the corner of the end zone. I don't remember him having great ability to make cuts or moves. Mostly relied on his speed. Hilliard had every frickin' move and cut in the book. Great compliment to each other.
If I had to compare Hill this soon I would compare him to Collins but not quite as great as Collins yet. Collins could have been the greatest LSU back ever (didn't see Cannon) in my opinion.

I don't know if anyone will ever match Cecil's pure RB talent, but that is who Hill reminds me of. That is all I am saying. I am not saying he is as good, better, or anything. Just that when I see him run, Cecil is the name that pops up.

In my opinion LSU has never had a RB that big, that fast, that powerful, and that smooth...So there's no previous LSU RB to compare Hill to....Way too early to predict, but he could be as good or better than Dalton & Cecil.

Hill is not quite as fast, but seems much tougher. James was kinda soft imo, but then he was always compared against D Hilliard who was exceptionally tough.

J Hill is a big boy. 235lbs and FAST!
One time I was sitting on a bench in the quad, and Garry James walked up and asked me if I was prejudiced and if he could sit down.

Accurate assessment (& memory) of Garry James. I don't remember James ever running soft as one poster suggested. He was pretty physical.
As for Hill, I don't know of another RB that we've had that runs like him.

I'm going with Charles Scott or Joseph Addai

Michael Ford runs similar to what Garry James did. Both like to outsprint the defense to the outside.
