Thats the best idea I have heard yet..... Muschamp was the best dc we ever had, plus he is full of emotion and keeps players fired up... If we dont get someone like him, les miles career in Baton Rouge wont be a long one...

It's not going to be 5 years - 2 max

When he was considered for the Vols position, his wife and kids said "if you go we're stayimg, we love it here, and we're not leaving"

dont be clouded by the 9 years remaining on Mack's contract - for the thousandth time - this is all predicated on Dodds stepping down as AD and Mack moving into that spot. Mack will coach until that happens - this has nothing to do with when Brown is tired of coaching, this has everything to do with Dodds retiring - which will be soon, within the next 2 years. Mack knows it, Muschamp knows it - he's staying at UT till they fire him or he quits.

We tried to hire Muschamp after Pelini left and he said no (and I understand why).

If the Petrino thing had not worked out then Muschamp would be our head hog right now..... He was told the job was his if BP stayed at the Falcons and he was close to being signed. Kiffin will not be a success in the SEC and UT should have kept Fulmer instead....

Personally.
I am not totally sold on Muschamp.

I love his attitude and intensity, but want to see more sustained results. I see that Texas has allowed 30 pts per game and if it were not for Colt, they would not be near close to where they are.
(I am using the GOOD teams- Baylor-T Tech-OK -OSU- Mizzou)

The concept of "coach in waiting" goes against all entrepreneurial motivational incentives.

I can understand being done in today's "corporate environment", since we reward people ahead of results in many cases.

Don't get me wrong, I am not against him and he is good, I am just on the sidelines to see what "good" really means.

Umm, wrong. We offered the DC job to Muschamp last year and he said no. He thought it would be a "step back" in his coaching career given that he was already the DC at LSU before.

When he said no Miles decided to give the job to Malleto.

And it's not necessarily a bad thing (except for us ending up with Malleto) because Muschamp's defenses sucked at Auburn and has sucked this year at Texas.
