back in the day, did the (top 4) ever cross over to the (bottom 4) within the bracket or am I dreaming that it did?

what if the (2-0) teams from each group of 4 switched to the opposite group of 4 teams?

It would allow for different matchups rather than all the repeat games.

For 2023, Florida woulda got a taste of Tennessee and Wake Forest, versus Oral Robert and TCU .

Thoughts?

The cross over was in the 6 team regional (there were no supers). But really it wasn’t a true crossover, it’s just the way that a 6 team double elimination works out.

Once everyone was in the CWS it was normal. They also had the 1 game championship and it wasn’t a championship series like it is now.

I think they still should. I liked it.

The WCWS moves the losers of the 1-0 games into the other bracket.

The semi finals should be the best of one game. Your reward for winning is having an off day, losing shouldn’t cause you to have to play 2 extra games.

Florida has won three games by one run. LSU has won three games by 3-plus runs and the Gators are set up for a major advantage in the finals. Seems too lopsided. A single-game semi seems like a reasonable adjustment

Yeah I would like to see some cross bracket play too. Losing teams play opposite

Yeah, it definitely makes mixing it up a more probable outcome, but Florida played every team on their side of the bracket this year.

On the other side however, LSU missed Stanford and Wake missed Tennessee.
