From what I hear about Rivers is that he is a hard worker and will be a good college QB.
Sure hope so. Now, with the current situation, unless we get a good JUCO QB, Rivers will need to play as a true freshman in 2011 to gain experience in case he is the starter as a true Soph in 2012. HOWEVER, with JJ and JLee being Sr's, and LSU having a chance to contend for a NC in 2011(theoretically with the every 4 year favorable schedule), and with Shep getting his share of snaps also in case he needs to the the Main QB in 2012, then there will not be any snaps available for Rivers prior to 2012.
This is why this is such a mess heading towards 2012.

If Rivers plays anything like his brother, I'd love for him to play as a true sophomore in 2012.

You're right, because he's Phillip Rivers's brother, no need to develop him. It will happen magically through genetics. That crafty Miles. Who needs to sign sufficient numbers at the QB position when you have those kinds of bloodlines to solidify the position, even absent any competent coaching from the people paid to coach LSU.

I would think that Barrett Bailey is and has been in the plan. This is a talented young man (3 stars) that agreed to walk on because he wanted to be a Tiger.

His plan should be to pursuade Ely to reconsider his verbal commitment to the tide. Verbals don't mean squat these days

absolutely!
all of this would be academic should JJ settle into his own. he seems like a great kid and I hope he does.

Garrett had grade issues.

Know the facts before you bash the kid on here. Grades had nothing to do with LM choice to yank his scholley!!! Don't bash the kid over something you know nothing about!

What are you smoking? You don't think that his dad and brother were teaching him proper QB mechanics when he was a kid and throughout his HS career? I don't know if you came from a dysfunctional family or not, but in my experience, you do your best to encourage your relatives to be better and help them along the way. I'd be willing to bet that Steven's dad and his brother, Philip were helping him almost every summer to work on his ball skills.

Thanks Bass, that is exactly what I was referring to. If we do not have a QB coach, I would much rather have someone come in with a bloodline like Rivers.
