Hopefully RS will not have to do much blocking.

Maybe it's just me but linebackers tend to take on fullbacks in games and receivers are often covered by safeties. I'll give you Mingo although guards pull from time to time.
sure, but if he is looking to pick matchups as he wants, i dont think its fair to have 215 lb Francois go againt Allen who is prob 265
or Mingo's skinny arse(240lbs??) going against Blackwell who is prob 315 or so when they are both the same height
i dont really care either way. Id actually pull for the underdog, but some of these guys dont stand a chance because of weight differential

So does that make you offense or defense?

Couldn't help but notice that Miles lost track of the score at one point: "Is it 5 to 5?"
Sounded to me like he was saying it for dramatic effect, as it "is it really tied, let's have a tie breaker." But maybe that's just me.

The absolute best thing about this video and the thing that has me totally pumped for next season- after RR and RS both got done BG critiqued their technique- showing them how it's done. I think the addition of BG will do wonders for our offense. :prayshard:

He could have guessed, and guessed wrong, which would have been worse

Surprised there's so much talk about so-and-so being mismatches. It's quite obvious to me that he was just throwing guys into the fire and seeing who's up for the challenge. You gotta see who has the stones and who will crumble under a bigger/stronger opponent.

ditto...plus if the bigger guy doesn't have the speed or technique he can be handled.

doesn't have the speed
all about strength/technique

quickness would have been a better term...
Posted on 3/18/10 at 8:18 pm to ForeLSU
same could be said for quickness. this drill is about squaring up and driving back.
Posted on 3/18/10 at 8:20 pm to Scratchy Pujols
IDK, speed off the line at the snap is a big part of beating your opponent.

if you beat the other guy to the point of attack you gain leverage and he doesn't stand a chance, assuming strength is close...much like an opening move in wrestling. Randle/Loston was a good example, where Loston lost his balance.

you can still have stones, but the 265lb fullback is going to push the 215lb linebacker around just about every time.

seemed pretty calculated to me. the way he read off his paper
Posted on 3/18/10 at 8:23 pm to TigerSinceBirth4Life
in a real game, yes. this drill is all about who gets the leverage to drive the opponent a couple yards back

Nice enjoyed the video

thought allen was at 253ish now, still a mismatch in terms of weight, but that's who he's going to have to block in a game, so it's legit to me

Davenport didnt come off the ball well at all but Ken Adams fired off.
