re: Miles' general thoughts on the season...

I personally do not want Miles to fail, though I think he is a failure and should be replaced. This I think is where the rub is between folks, some folks think Miles and LSU are like Conjoined Siamese Twins, you can choose to want another coach if you believe it is better for the school.
Obviously I want LSU to win every game, I just think we can and eventually will do better than with Miles. That's how I see it.

Well, you're mostly right, but I disagree with your distinction. The difference in the two factions is that one group wants a coach that WILL be better for the school, and the other group wants a coach that MIGHT be better for the school.
We have been a Top 2-3 program since 1997 and I don't want to see that vanish by botching a hire. Jimbo Fisher would have been at worst a lateral move, and at best a legitimate challenger to Nick Saban... though I do think that the $15 million buyout was a bit much to bring him in.
At the very least, Les has one National Championship ring, two SEC Championship rings, and had the opportunity for another NC ring. You know that when the stars align, Les is good enough to get you there. Another coach might not be.

Can you finish where you think we disagree on distinction?

Ok, so here is where we disagree. To me you want a sure thing, I figure there IS more risk involved, we may go through 2 coaches to get there.
It sounds as if you want to stick with a known quantity that I do not want to stick with.

111-32 equates to a "failure" in your mind???
The best record EVER achieved by a LSU HC during a time period in which the SEC dominated college football with 4 different programs owning NCs has been a "failure.
Well, each to our own, but I can only hope/pray for another such "failure" for our next 11 yr.s as we have enjoyed for our last 11 yrs.

When that known quantity has proven that he is capable of getting you to the pinnacle of CFB success, yes, I would rather stick with him.
What you want is to fire Lloyd Carr, hire Rich Rodriguez, then Brady Hoke, then get Jim Harbaugh.... what I want is to fire Bobby Bowden and get Jimbo Fisher.

How many Bobby to Jimbo times have happened as opposed to " Lloyd Carr, hire Rich Rodriguez, then Brady Hoke, then get Jim Harbaugh"?
Any time a school goes into the hiring process it's a mighty big gamble with failure as a result a lot more often than success. Just look the Mich., Tenn., USC, Texas, Miami, Neb., A&M, Flor., and on and on.
Fla. St. and LSU are the only 2 schools I can think of, off the top of my head, who have gone from one NC coach to another without some degree of failure.
Doesn't mean it cant be done, but it's a lot harder to do than some want to admit. imo
I am willing to ride with the guy taking LSU to two NCGs a little while longer rather than gambling on a coaching search at this time.

I don't equate the OOC games with lower leveled schools as wins, yes I know other schools do, but it is not a number I use to evaluate things. This is why I specifically asked for your help with % of SEC wins at specific times. If Charlie Mac had had these lower level schools to play with such regularity he would have done as well also.
I look at the money, the time he has been here, the talent he has had and then the results, pretty much how I look at life - bottom line to me, he needs to go.

You're a liar. You look at specific dates with specific results to specific games. I'm willing to bet that you've wanted Miles gone since day one.

There is no dialogue with these folks, they will never want your opinion; CLM has a great record and that is it. Do not look at the trends last 3/4 years his record over 11 years is all that matters!

Go ahead...cherry pick some stats for us

Mr Choctaw, thanks for your loyal support and want for stats; Just want to say that I have been a fan way way before you (since late 50's) willing to bet and have seen and followed every Tiger team since then including almost all home and many away games over that period (not to mention my time there through the 70's that were some fun times) and don't need stats to prove CLM outstanding record in 11 years but the fact is the trend last 4 years is disturbing to some fans and they are entitled to their opinion just as you are!
BTW, are you a season ticket holder?

That would be strange. I mean, I'm anti-Miles but, quite obviously, I didn't want him gone "from day one".
Is there some proof of this accusation towards another poster?

He admitted that he didn't want him in the first place.
He did not, to my knowledge tell us when that apathy turned to hatred.
