So, the gist of your complaint is that Les Miles doesn't beat the #1 or #2 team in the nation year after year so you think he is a sup par coach.
This seems to be a major gripe/problem for many around Baton Rouge lately.

when was the last time LSU beat a top 5 team on the road before Miles?
2001/2003 SEC Championship Games were pretty much defacto road games.

I can't say I disagree with this. It does appear this way.

People just don't seem to acknowledge the fact that Bama and Florida just might be the best teams in the nation and losing to them isn't an indicator of a shitty coach.

Exactly. I'm not saying Miles is the best coach in the country, but he definitely isn't a bad coach.

LSU 2009..Fla and Bama both open double digits, then bet down a bit...UGA -3.5 LV Hilton preseason line..opens -2.5 and bet down..a false fav..basically a pick'em..Okie St handled UGA then Houston went into Stillwater and rallied off the pace for a win..UGA not a typical UGA.

ASU, only favored based upon reschedule via Katrina, and perceived Katrina after effects. Basically a false fav at -1.5, Pelini with an LSU personnel learning curve while playing DBs @ 15 yards off LOS(same vs Tenn two weeks later), LSU Offense took a while to get synced, team wind not to speed yet due to chaos, Miles all balls with fake punt call, win at the buzzer..
Miami in Peach, Canes played a weak schedule, overrated with great record, and the line at an inflated 7 due to Flynn getting first start, LSU exorcises their UGA Dome bad memory loss from few weeks prior.
Georgia Tech, trip-op O, month to prepare, overrated and one-dimensional with no passing attack, but were hot in ACC play. LSU was written off by the media and oddsmakers as having quit on the season down the stretch. LSU players PO'ed about Johnson and GT's remarks, ready to explode their season's frustrations, GT like fellow finesse ACCer Miami quit at some point halfway.

Only if you can back up said criticism and let's just say that it's hard to do when you are winning an average of 9 games a season in the toughest conference in the nation. Plus you haven't lost a single bowl game to boot.

This isn't what I am SAYING. USC doesn't go on the road in the PAC-10 and play in games he's suppose to lose. We do, like Alabama and UF this year. Listen to what I am trying to say here.
So you are saying it is better to lose games that you are favored to win rather than losing games that you are suppose to lose? Your argument is very confusing.

The main argument against the title of this thread, is how few times LSU has been a betting dog in the Miles tenure, especially the massively talented rosters of 2005, 2006, and 2007.
Only Fla at home under Meyer, Richt's UGA in games played in the Peach state, and Bama these past two years as an unbeaten regular season squad under Saban, have been a consistent fav vs LSU, anywhere or anyplace.

Skooter, if you read my initial post, how significant is the Peach Bowl? Really? And I am only talking about games that are under Miles and that we were underdogs and won, especially in conference. That Tenn game we were favored. and when was Arkansas ranked #5, never when we played them under Miles.
I read your initial post. I would say the peach bowl was pretty damn significant. Coming off that blowout in the SEC championship, we needed a big win. And we got it in a game we weren't favored.
In 2006, we were NOT favored at Tennessee. This was the year we played 4 top 10 teams on the road. We played Auburn in a damn good game, and won two of them on the road. We had just lost our second game of the year a few weeks earlier to Florida. When we played Tennessee in their house, they were favored. Arkansas went to the SEC championship game that year and had not lost an SEC game until they played us. Get your facts straight before you run your mouth.

Was Saban a sub par coach? He lost games he was supposed to win at LSU? Lost 5 games after a 10 win season. So was he sub par? Losing to UAB? Ole Piss?
Some of you rantards have expectation that have no sound reasoning based on the history of LSU football.
You are just dumber than a bag of hammers.
I don't even understand how people like you can even call yourself a fan. Whiny bitch, yes. Fan, no.

This is a retarded post. It is called discourse - one person expresses an opinion and others respond to that opinion. It is the format in which ideas are discussed. You can criticize whoever you want, but don't be mistaken, your own ideas are not above critique.

If you are going to use Meyer and Saban's record prior to their current location...what about Miles beating OK while OK state? state was always a dog! I'm not going to say Miles is among the elite coaches, but honestly who is by the standards many here want to place on him?
Show me a coach who year in and year out wins as the favorite and wins as the dog...doesn't happen!
even those considered great never did that...i.e. the Bear, Paterno, Bowden etc.

Skooter, LSU damn well was favored vs Jonathan Crompton getting his first start, despite being in Knoxville. I was there, and I'm a sportsgambler.
Also check Goldsheet's ATS Logs that I posted above. The oddsmakers even opened LSU a small fav at Fla that year, until Fla went off as a small -1 or so fav that Saturday morning. Aub was -3 and 3.5 vs LSU, and were preseason #1. Most sharpies had LSU vs Aub despite the slight uptick for Aub from 3 to 3.5, most had Fla vs LSU.
The wiseguys loved LSU that year, as they, NFL scouts attending practices and games, and other media pundits thought LSU every bit as good as Fla, despite the Fla and Aub losses..and raved over the roster talent and depth.
