re: Miles DOES NOT Win Games He's Not Suppose to

It is MUCH worse, again IMO, to lose games we are suppose to WIN than lose games that we are suppose to lose. This is the entire point of my post. I want to see us beat somebody that we are not suppose to beat, meaning an Underdog on the road or at home i.e. vs Florida and @ Alabama this year. Does this not make sense???????
And what everyone is trying to tell you is this: If you are a coach at Vandy, it isn't that unusual to pull some win out of your arse that was supposed to be a loss, you are constantly an underdog. At LSU, LSU is rarely an underdog, and when we are it is against National Champion quality opponents. It is much easier to sneak a win against a mid-tier opponent (which has its weaknesses that prevent it from being a top tier opponent), than against the likes of Florida and Bama (this year for example). Les has had very few opportunities, against very good opponents. If he is able to win the games he is supposed to win and field the best team each game (and hence be favored), he can win it all.

I wish I knew you IRL so I could bet you a C-note that RS won't be our starting QB next year.

Agreed. The future, not the 'right now'.

And at this point, Lee is more likely to put on the best performance (potential aside

Thats how you get better
True, but getting better should not even be on your mind, when you in the 4th quarter in a close game that could put you in position to go to the SEC or BCS Championship game.

how significant is the Peach Bowl? Really? And I am only talking about games that are under Miles and that we were underdogs and won, especially in conference
You are my puppet

jmath....I can give you numerous examples. Saban beat #2 Tennessee in the SECCG when they were loaded with talent, Meyer beat pretty much everyone at Utah with inferior talent, and at Bowling Green with not even close to the talent level he has at UF; thats why he gets who he wants and wins the NC basically every year. 3 out of 4 after this year. Carroll turned USC around in 1 season after he got there, and UCLA and WSU were two of the top teams he beat on the road his first year as underdogs.
I mean come on people you are not getting my point.
I want to see us win a game we are not favored in, under Miles, that means something, like a big SEC game or regular season non conference game. Yes I know I love to be favored in every game we play, but our conference is so tough its not going to happen.
To me, this shows us what a great coach is all about.

You all are idiots. I just hope we will be fortunate to see another NC under Miles, bc if not, its going to be 10 years of decline, and I'll be the first to say, the best thing that ever happened to LSU is Miles to Michigan.

And Tigersruletheearth, i never said Shepard would be the starting QB next season, I think Jefferson will continue to improve and wii be, however, someone as talented as RS needs to be on the field.

regular season non conference game.
Does blowing out Vatech when we were only a slight favorite hold any merit? I bet if we were slight underdogs and squeaked out a win, then we could say we had a good coach. Oh well...

This isn't what I am SAYING. USC doesn't go on the road in the PAC-10 and play in games he's suppose to lose. We do, like Alabama and UF this year.
in 2005, we played a top 5 bama team on the road and won. In 2006, we played a top 5 arkansas team and won on the road.
What was the best team LSU beat on the road under Saban? Was it Ole Miss in 2003?
LSU was favored in both those games btw, it doesn't make us winning any less impressive.

You still aren't getting my point nor what I am trying to say. And yes, we were suppose to win that game.

Were we favored against VT in 2007 (I don't know the answer to this)? And some seasons you are favored to win every game you play. These can turn into BCS seasons. Florida and Bama haven't pulled off 1 upset all season, and both look to be in good shape.
Here is the point Cal, when you are building a program, you can pull off upsets, but once you have arrived - it just doesn't happen very often anymore - that doesn't mean that the coach isn't good - it means that the media and Vegas are aware of the coach's and teams' abilities and set the odds accordingly.

So for Carroll you have to go back 10 years, Saban 9, and Meyer 6.
Since it seems to need repeating. We went on the road in '06 and beat two teams ranked higher than us in Tenn, and Ark. We were underdogs in the NC in '07. Hell, I think we were even underdogs against Georgia this year.
Your point is also invalid because you insist on discounting bowl games as not being meaningful, which they are.

frick your point. You haven't comprehended or acknowledged a single thing in this thread that proves your cute little theory wrong.

Let's just talk this out.
You want us to beat teams we aren't favored against. (Which we have done but you seem not to acknowledge)
We are favored in 90% of our games because we are a superior team most years. So that means that we have to beat teams that are ranked higher than us most of the time.
We are usually in the top 10-5 of the BCS any given week. That means for a team to be favored against us they have to be int he top 5% of all football teams in the nation.
Since we don't play Texas, Oklahoma, etc. on a regular basis then that means what you really want is for us to consistantly beat the likes of Alabama and Florida year in and year out.
These two teams were ranked as #1 and #2 for weeks at a time both last year AND this year.
So, the gist of your complaint is that Les Miles doesn't beat the #1 or #2 team in the nation year after year so you think he is a sup par coach.
AM I GETTING THIS RIGHT?

...weak. Miles has won 1/3 of our National Championships, and if we had 10 more years of 11 win seasons, I bet we would end up in a BCS bowl at least a few times. No one wins the national championship every year.
