re: Miles did NOT screw up by not playing Lee

There is some truth to what you say, but anyone who has watched LSU play football for the last 3+ years knows that Mr. Jefferson never played well consistently. He never learned to read a defense, he never mastered the option, he never was a consistent running "threat".
LSU won despite mostly awful QB play. Could Lee have done better? Well, he did do better for at least 8 games. To beat Alabama this team had to have a credible passing game which was not going to happen with Mr. Jefferson in the huddle. Never. I think that a good passing game would have set up the run for later on. The 'Bama defense on Monday knew that all they had to do was play run. That makes defending easier by half.
Why the STAFF did not construct a game plan to take advantage of mismatches of LSU TE against their LBs is mysterious. The 'Bama brain trust used it to good effect to keep the Tigers off balance much of the game.
LM produced nothing after 37 days to prepare. I am not sure what it means, but it cannot be anything good. His coaching methods are unusual to say the least. His mistakes, like some of his successes are monumental.

I agree with all of this and so true, outcoached , outplayed in every facet of the game. You would think that for the MNC, les could have had a better game plan than he did . To think that Bama was going to try and lean on Trent Richardson like they did in the nov 5th game was insanity, but you can tell that is what they banked on Man that is insane. Now as to the JJ JL thing. I go back to the Hodson Guidry years. It never failed that i can think of. Hodson would come to the sidelines , converse with Ed Zaunbracher, Guidry comes in moves the Tiger offens down the field usually for a score. Hodson sees some things from the sidelines, goes back in and we roll. Like Hanagriff and Risher using the baseball analogy. Sometimes your Cy Young winner doesnt have his stuff, you switch to you r picteher with 5.5 ERA but lo and behold , this one night he's on fire. Iknow the game is over and Im still venting , but how in the hell do you not try something different when it becomes 100 per cent obvious JJ is not on top of his game. Try Lee, Try Mett, Move shep or Ware in Wildcat formation. But for goodness sake try something.

No matter what we do know for a fact that JL was a part of the Pregame Plans via the interviews with players and JL himself. So why no JL???

If Miles is honest with himself he knows that he was sandbagged by his own hubris. He mistakingly believed that the ship would eventually right itself aka the Arkansas and Georgia games. It was a flawed coaching strategy, overcome in the prior two games by superior athletic talent and momentum changing plays by defense/special teams. It was a painful lesson. Will he learn from his mistake?

Lee had played so-o-o-o little since October that it would have been careless to play him in that situation. Miles' QB strategy bit him the arse on Monday.
Yes, and the reason is Lee was academically in trouble and, therefore, risky to be given playing time.

because Les would rather lose a national championship than pull his pet

J. Lee was on pace to throw about 22 td's compared to 6 picks with w.kentucky, and ole miss yet to play that he could have had a field day. He screwed up by not continuing the offense that got them there. The reason Jefferson was successful the first time against ALA was because they prepared for Lee to start. Many ALA players said this.

Nope. Incorrect.
Skipping a couple of classes to go hunting does not put one in academic trouble.
Purely rumor, never an issue.

You really are showing some ignorance today. How in the hell is it risky? Did Lee not play in the games, take a knee?

For some reason, Jefferson always played better when he was pressed by Lee. When Les failed to play Lee after Bama, we saw Jefferson's focus and performance deteriorate.

I agree. It was evident that LSU was unprepared and played with a lack of emotion.
While much was made of Jarrett Lee's "deer in the headlight" look in the first game, it appeared that Les Miles had that same expression when interviewed at halftime by ESPN's Erin Andrews. His usual confidence was not there and it made you wonder whether he had an answer for the second half.
Obviously, he didn't.
