Miles Contract

Let's assume for the sake of discussion the LSU administration decided after the season to let Les go.
How many years would remain on his contract and any idea what the buyout would be?
Thanks in advance.

The buyout would be so much that we couldn't even hire a new head football coach next year. Every fan in Lousisiana would have to empty their 401k and donate it to TAF before we could even think about getting another coach.

Don't remember how many years are left, but it's too many. Buy out is 14 mil, I believe. Money well spent??

I thought this was the last year of his contract...

2012 is his last year in the contract (i think)

How many years was his contract 20? He would be in his 3rd year since the NC and I would hope the administration wasn't dumb enough to give him more than a 5 year deal. So with that wouldn't that only put us on the hook for 8 million. While that is nothing to dismiss what is it costing us to keep him as the Coach? I say we have the talent to make it to a BCS game, but I don't think that will happen again under this regime, so what is that costing us?

So if that's correct he would have 2 years remaining. Reason I'm asking is I read or heard when he signed the new contract extension a couple of years ago that if he was fired he would get the full value of his remaining contract.

Googled his contract. We have him until the end of 2012. Yay.

He has a five year contract that is rolled over each year at the option of the LSU administration. For the last two years, it was not rolled over so he has three years left. So, 2012 would be his last year unless the idiots that gave him this ridiculous contract roll it over.

There was an article a few weeks ago that mentioned he had 4 years left and the buyout was 15 million. It was an article either in USA today or on ESPN.

I think the best shot at getting rid of Miles is if Michigan knocks on the door... but I dont think they would, if they didnt in 2007, they wont now

I've got his contract in Pdf form. I print it out and use it as toilet paper.
If I could attach it here, I would.

With every game that Miles wins makes it even harder for a buyout because of all the incentives in that contract works against any buyout possibility.

No matter what the buyout it is, the university and the coach usually settle on a number that is not the total in the contract. It may take years with the help of the courts but it is never as cut and dry as we fired you and here is your total buy out.
Most of these coaches contracts are not worth the paper they are written on.

I wasn't happy when he won the NC and we threw some big contract at him....knew it was a mistake. Too bad he isn't trashing Michigans program right now.

Should we hope for a NCAA violation? That would allow LSU to fire him with cause and void the buyout.

What LSU should have done after last season was rework Miles' contract for two underachieving seasons. They basically redid his contract after the national title, so turnabout is fair play.

LSU should fire him with cause and I am not sure a court in Louisiana would rule in Mile's favor.
