Mike D's Preseason Thoughts on LSU’s Offense & More

For the few that don't do the morning ritual of reading Dandy's. Here is an interview with Coach Eaux's bud - Mike Detillier. Pretty good write-up even though I am tired of hearing about the team and ready to see them, this is all we have right now.
Joe Burrow hadn’t even been named the starter at this time last year
Joe Burrow hadn’t even been named the starter at this time last year
quote:
What jumps out to me is the quick pace of this new offense. Steve and Joe have them up on the line of scrimmage quickly and it prohibits teams from substituting “situational” wise. It’s what drove LSU defenses in the last two years up the wall against teams like Troy State, Syracuse, and Florida. It’s a wear-down approach
quote:
You haven’t won any championships lately with those 1,000-yard rushers right, so what does that really mean in the long run?
quote:
Scott: One last question before moving on to defense. Do you see this more as Steve Ensminger’s offense with Joe Brady’s influence, or Brady’s offense with Ensminger’s wrinkles?
Mike: This is Steve’s offense with Brady’s influence. They work as a team to build this offense. Steve wanted a “spread” offense and Joe has helped out immensely. And you have the right signal-caller, too, in Joe Burrow. They trust Burrow will make the right decision on the field on where to go with the ball and again, you spread the field out and it helps the rushing attack.

10 years of offense hype.
I'll believe it when I see it.

Well, good for you.
quote:
Mike: Well, I have seen it in the practice sessions. But I get it. Coach Miles had great success here, but every year he said things would change and they didn’t.
Ed has been through the revolving door with Matt Canada one year and Steve Ensminger the next, but Steve wanted this change.
And bringing in Joe Brady was the right idea. He has those pro concepts in what he saw with the New Orleans Saints and they are using the short pass like an extended hand-off to the wide receivers. That’s similar to what the Saints have done.
quote:
Jamal Pettigrew is a really good looking prospect who has fought off injuries, and he is another huge target player with good hands. And he finds the weak spots in a defense.
So, yes. They will use the tight end more in this offense as a receiver. And they have different options. And just listen to Coach O praise his tight ends. Listen to him; He’s telling you how good that unit is.

Well, good for you.

I don't know if the guy is an Eaux-basher and wasn't trying to be hard on him.
Just pointing out that Coach Eaux has changed the offense EVERY year he has been at LSU. But people somehow can't believe the offense will be different or change????
That plus the multiple coaches, players and spectators that have witnessed and confirmed the offense will indeed be different.

I think it was skepticism of the hype about production, not change. The offense is going to be different.

We’re loaded with receivers and backs ... but it all comes down to that offensive line. I want someone who has been to practice to tell me how they feel about the offensive line

I don't remember reading one tweet or article EVER that mentions or "hypes" an increase in offensive production. This thread certainly doesn't insinuate it.
I think you are wrong and that the posted skepticism is about change and has nothing to do with imagined production.

Read the link. It is covered.

You may be right about the intent of the post. I definitely agree though that we will see some big changes this season.

Oh lord the crawfishing is already starting.
So you're not willing to state that this offense is going to be highly prolific?

Hey bitch. Why do you always post the Coach o stretching pic every time you start a football related thread? Do you think it’s like part of your brand or something?

Wouldn't something have to be said or done before a person can attempt to crawfish? No?

What does it matter? I can tell you I think it will ONCE AGAIN be different.
I do think that if everything had remained exactly the same they would be better this year just based on experience. The Offense returned three starters last season. They return eight starters this year. Not to mention the defense should be as good or better and that should also help the offense.

So no excuses not to make the playoffs is what you’re saying.

Because that's the whole freaking point. We were promised a great offense by the head coach.

You guys have some of these idiots fooled by promising change as if change alone is enough but a lot of people want production. You're on borrowed time brother.

Wow, you must be really shook if you're here tempering expectations.

Me too.
Maybe I'll start a thread about Les Miles later and you can upvote it. I hear he is changing the offense this year.
