Part 1 yesterday seemed pretty lame. He hit on some thought provoking stuff in today's report.

I like Dantrieze Scott and was glad to see him mentioned as a pass rusher.

quote:

Mike: Pass rushers are as hard to find today as quarterbacks. I’m not kidding about that. That 3-4 edge guy is really another pass rusher. I like what I have seen from Travez Moore who has size and great length and he can close in quickly on the QB. Dantrieze Scott is an interesting athlete and I give him a shot to play that edge rusher spot.

Jarell Cherry is a guy who intrigues me as a pass-rusher. Jarell is a speed/quickness guy and so how he handles the power of the SEC and how he can get off a much bigger blocker interests me. He’s relentless out in the field. In time, with some work on his techniques and hand usage, he can be a really good edge guy. He’s a player similar to what KeKe Mingo was when he hit LSU.

Ha, I mentioned the Mingo resemblance on here the other day. Does he read the Rant?

Dantrieze was offered a scholarship by LSU as a sophomore !!!
SEC Country - Get to know 3-star LSU DE Dantrieze Scott

quote:

I believe other than wide receiver the additions along the defensive line was the best for LSU. I like the quickness and get up the field abilities of Davin Cotton - who I think is a tremendous player and Nelson Jenkins.

They got some real beef inside too with Chasen Hines, Dominic Livingston, and Dare Rosenthal. Now, one of those guys eventually will be moved to the offensive line, but you got a big man group here and a physical group.

Moore and Cotton are the ones to watch how quickly they develop in 2018. Then add the Texas Tech strongman in Breiden Fehoko, and you got some major beef upfront.

quote:

Pete Jenkins told me during the 2017 season that he thought that with Ed Alexander, Fehoko, and Rashard Lawrence, those three, if they could stay healthy, could be a special group. Add Tyler Shelvin, if he can get his weight down and upgrade his conditioning, and this is a very good group. And you’ve got Neil Farrell and Justin Thomas in the mix too. Pete spoke highly of both of them too.

He also talks about the linebackers and the new additions to the staff - coaches, aministrative and analysts.

Quick hitter questions:
quote:

Scott: Now for those rapid-fire questions to wrap this up… Your favorite offensive signees in the class?

Mike: Wide receiver JaMarr Chase, who back in December I thought was headed out of state. And center Cole Smith.

Scott: Favorite defensive signees?

Mike: Defensive back Kelvin Joseph and Defensive tackle Davin Cotton.

Scott: Biggest sleeper in the class?

Mike: DE/OLB Travez Moore.

Scott: Lastly, the biggest thing to watch for in spring practice, which gets underway in about a month?

Mike: Myles Brennan is the front-runner at QB, no doubt, but how improved has Lowell Narcisse gotten as a downfield passer and how will they adjust to his game because he is such a threat as a runner? Can Nick Brossette be the guy at halfback and can you come out of spring healthy at cornerback? And does Kristian Fulton get his situation straightened out and play big at cornerback? Lloyd Cushenberry at center too is something to watch. Those safety positions are pretty thick also, so who jumps out from the pack? Todd Harris is someone Coach O thinks a lot of at safety.

You can't even let just one informative thread on LSU players go by without your hatred/misery having to come to the forefront? Pitiful.

All Detillier does is repeat what other people say.

I think mike d just got in on the ground floor of being the local draft guy by tossing out that draft guide on SR.com. So people just kind of assume he's an expert.

his analysis on scona'a show is the most generic bullshite..."That WR there Matt, ohhh I tell ya that boy can fly"

"that LB, he is one mean dude and will knock you right on your butt"

Okay, since the people who can't stand to hear non-negative information about LSU, even if it is about the players, have tried to hijack the thread.

Let me try to steer it back to it's original purpose - the LSU players.

quote:

Mike: They got some real beef inside too with Chasen Hines, Dominic Livingston, and Dare Rosenthal. Now, one of those guys eventually will be moved to the offensive line

People have pointed out on the RB that Dare was a 5-star when he was committed to Alabama and asked why he dropped in the rankings since he switched to LSU.

The answer was that he was rated a five star at offensive line. When he stated he was going to be a D-lineman they dropped him to a 3-star and he eventually moved back up to a 4-star as a D-lineman.

I am pretty sure Chasen Hines was the same way. Rated much higher as a offensive lineman, then deciding to switch to defense.
"Hines, then considered a top-10 offensive line prospect, committed to Jeff Grimes"
SEC Country - Signee 101: Get to know 4-star LSU DL Chasen Hines

I like Dare on defense. That huge son-of-a-gun is FAST for a man his size. He would probably make a whole lot more money on offense though.

Chasen is probably in the same boat as Dare. I have not followed Chasen as closely as I have DR.

Maybe both move to O-line but I would personally rather see a DT (Dare) running down backs and QB's, making interceptions, causing fumbles and disrupting passes more than watching him block.

all 3 need to be on the OL, IMO

Hines and Livingston would need to lose about 20-30 pounds to get on the DLine. I have a hard time seeing where they would not be too slow and plodding at the 330+ weights

I don't think you specifically have to hold a job in football to know the game, especially these days but it certainly helps a ton. I think I would put Detillier above Kiper.

The issue most have with you is that it is not “just one” informative thread that you send out. It is multiple, everyday posts that you regurgitate the same type of information over and over. And it seems you are always linking other sites, especially “dandy don;” so much so that it makes me wonder if you are Scott. If we wanted to read Dandy Don, we would go to the site ourselves. Most people who link stuff on here is when it is needed as a source for some sort of breaking news or to debate what someone has said; not just another fluff opinion piece.

Look, I’m guessing you mean well, and of course you are at liberty to post whatever the hell you want on here. But don’t get offended or attack others when they call you out on what seems to be your constant barrage of force fed talking points or PR spin. Most of us are taking a wait and see approach to the coming season and this coaching staff; so just let it play out.
