There is no question that Michigan Satdium isn't noisy in the same way that Tiger Stadium is, or for that matter Notre Dame stadium, The Swamp, or a number of other well-known venues. The reason, IMHO, is that Michigan Stadium is a single-tier, very shallow bowl. (If you're in the top row, a phone call to the bench is a long-distance call). So all the noise sort of filters up instead of reverberating. But it's still a lot of fun to go to a game there.

The Picayune ran an article about a year ago saying that this was already a done deal. Apparently, starting in 2013 or 201, the Sec and Big 10 will roll out the sec big ten challenge for the first week of the season. Games were going to be matched up based on best matchup. (I remember seeing LSU vs. Michigan, Florida vs. Ohio St, Georgia vs Penn St, Tennessee vs. Wisconsin etc.

Can anyone else confirm or remember this?

One of the nola.com writers suggested it about a year ago. don't recall anything else.

Yeah, haven't been there, but I've heard the Big House is a little disappointing, for what you may expect.

LSU fans should dress ultra preppy

we already dress 100000x times more preppy than big 10 schools. were in the south bud, thats how it is at sec schools.

Someone needs to make this happen. Two great stadiums, and good atmospheres

LSU's former athletic director Bob Brodhead already tried to schedule a home-and-home series between LSU and UM back in the late '80s, but Michigan wouldn't do it; LSU ended up having to do a series with Ohio State instead.

Russel Shepard and Sam Mcguffie would be cool to see in the same game but later after a lil experience.

Thanks for informative post, MichiganTiger. I've been to ND and that is the most overrated stadium in all of college football. You are right about those seats being tight.

PAC-10 fans for the most part are fairly lame as well. I will give props to Oregon fans as I've seen them in action and they are rather obnoxious and loud.

TS has louder, more passionate fans. The tailgating rocks. And though the BH was surprisingly comfortable, TS wins out here as well.

This was Michigan's worst season in 129 years, according to most reports. Some say it was Michigan's worst season ever, all things considered. What do you suppose TS was like for LSU's worst season ever? Rocking?

I agree w/ this matchup. Would be great for both programs.

Would also like to see any of these:

v USC (have had this one before)
v UCLA or Stanford
v Texas
v Ok St, Nebraska or Kansas St
v Penn State
v Rutgers or Syracuse
v WVU or Clemson
v Florida State (had this one before)
v Ohio State

Only if McGuffie transfers to LSU could this happen since he's already announced he's transferring from Michigan. Or I guess whatever team he decides to transfer to plays LSU over the next 3 years.

I don't like it

Lets Keep Les Miles away from Michigan, Old memories and friends may come back to haunt him and LSU.

Not to mention Kirk Herbstreit may start the rumors again.

MichiganTiger and NYCajun,I also went to school at both LSU and UM and went to about 18-19 or so games over a 3 year period. When I was in school there, it was a perfect void filler because LSU was experiencing the Curley years. Their coach then was Gary Moeller. I remember the first time I stood up and questioned the playcalling. About 200 people looked back at me like, "did he just holler at the coach?" I knew I was out of place then for sure. Anyway, two things the Michiganders have over LSU is that those guys know how to serve some great in stadium kielbasa and design traffic flow that is not a huge cluster. They might be the quietest, no tailgating fans ever, but they can get that 106K group of fans in and out of Ann Arbor without all the crazy post-game screwup inconsistent traffic patterns. WE need to send the BRPD up there for a game and just watch perfection. :)

I think a home & home with Michigan would be great. Probably the biggest team LSU has never faced, so that in itself is enough reason for them to play.
