Anybody know what's happened with MC? I didn't see the game yesterday but I did look at the stats and didn't see him mentioned. I don't recall the last time I saw or heard anything about him with TB.
Surely he can't be out of the game already.

Chest injury kept him out of the line-up, but apparently he had a good camp/pre-season.

The "chest injury" is being used as an excuse to make him inactive. Mike has fallen out of favor over the past couple of years with the coaches because of him dropping the ball. After his great rookie season, he had an injury that affected him during his sophomore year. Ever since then, Tampa has brought in a free agent, and/or drafted a rookie to shore up the receiving corps. This year the Bucs brought in Antonio Bryant and drafted Dexter Jackson from App state to replace him. It's a shame, because I root for him here in Tampa, because he is a Tiger, but it seems like the guy drops an important catch every week when he's give the opportunity. Tampa has an injury to one its receivers this week and Bryant had two drops yesterday, so maybe Clayton will be given a shot this week against the Falcons. Also, Clayton said yesterday that he was "shocked" that he was declared inactive against the Saints.

How does declaring a player in active or on injured reserve affect the truth of situation

If he isn't injured, why make it up if your the organization? and not tell the player before the game? Kinda fishy to me...What organization treats their players like that?

Don't they still have to pay him?

I am not questioning the truth from the poster, I just don't understand the reasoning behind it for the organization..

Is it to send a message to MC? What?

some one put this together for me, It doesn't make too much sense

if he had a good camp and he is in good health? why then?

_________________________________________________This should probably be on the "More Sports Board", but since the question was asked on this one, here is my opinion. Jon Gruden has a love/hate, "flavor of the week", type of relationship with his offensive players. Before he came to Tampa, the Bucs were known as a great defensive team that could not advance any further in the playoffs because of a weak offense. The owners got rid of Tony Dungy and brought in the "offensive guru" Gruden. He won the Super Bowl his first year, (because of the defense) and has alternated winning and losing seasons since. The one thing that is consistent, is his offense has finished at the bottom of the league every year. Gruden changes quarterbacks, running backs, linemen, and unfortunately for Michael Clayton, receivers, every year. Clayton had a bad second season, and Gruden has looked to replace him ever since. This will be Claytons last year in Tampa. Again, just my observation from living down here in Tampa. An earlier poster mentioned something disparaging about Clayton. I don't know if it is true or not, but he does have a great charity that he sponsors here, any you never read anything negative about him in the papers.
