We all are not disagreeing with you but i'm sure you've watched the first 8 games. The real time release usually comes after the high % release moment when a receiver is best positioned unless it's a single designed route such as a fade or quick slant. Any call where he has to go through his progressions is usually late.

From the looks of his head position, seems like he was going to Palmer the whole way, I guess it doesn't matter if it was a designed play. But just staring down the route pulled that safety inside right away.

Problem as I see it is Max looks at one receiver 99% of the time. Where he is going with the ball is pre-ordained which causes him to miss receivers that are open. He has not progressed at all this year, regressed.
