It’s not that they’re 50/50 balls. All of his deep balls were under thrown. Need to fix before better dbs
The first two deep balls were underthrown. He seemed to adjust and get better as the night went on. The back shoulder throw to Bech was perfect. Yes, Bech had to make an amazing one handed catch. But Max put the ball in the only place that even gave Bech a chance to catch it without manhandling the DB.
To me, the timing is what he needs to work on with a lot of those deep balls. He was a split second too late on several of them, where if he had thrown it just a hair sooner the WR catches it in space with room to run.
I’m just glad they are letting him air it out. The more he does it, the better he will get.

And Rantards wanted to bench him for Nuss.
If the offense didn't change, it would have been necessary.
But they changed it to accommodate Max, and it looked pretty damn good.

Did they really, though? I didn’t see any plays that made me think “OK, they’re catering to Max’s strengths now.” If anything we threw a lot more deep balls - when before, Max’s strength had been more of the west coast style attack.
I think the personnel changes helped. And I definitely think we are getting more creative in the running game to slow down the pass rush and also (try to) open up the inside runs.
To my untrained eyes, it looks like we are just seeing Max get more comfortable and confident.

It shouldn’t have been thrown…..a lot of SEC corners would have picked it off.

With LSU having better athletes than every other team short of Alabama, there are no 50/50 balls. Not to mention that the receivers have the tremendous advantage of seeing the ball first. In fact, most of Joe Burrow's passes were thrown under the same exact circumstances.

You guys better hide this thread from the delusional Myles Brennan fans.
