How about LSU hitters receiving a handoff from Javi Sanchez when rounding the bases on homeruns?

Not the same.

Now, if Javi was "handing off" to the hitter before the batter even saw the first pitch, then you'd have a great analogy.

I think Rouge is arguing about the perceived arrogance of playing such a video, and how it would offend the other team and that baseball players are perculiar about what is proper baseball etiquette. I can assure you that taking a handoff when rounding bases on a homerun is not proper baseball ettiquet. (But I kind of like it because it's unique to LSU)

I had heard they were supposed to take the "Game Over" stuff out of his video but didn't notice if they did this past weekend. His music isn't going anywhere.

I was only at the Saturday game, and the video wasn't running when Ott entered the game, but I figured that was because Bertuccini was warming up in the bottom of the 7th, but then Ott ran down late and warmed up quickly and entered the game in the top of the 8th inning. I just figured the video wasn't cued up yet, or they were going to wait for the 9th, which they didn't show it then either.

baseball players are messed up about shite like this. is a ground is hit to the first base side and Matty has to cover, he better hop off of 1B in a hurry b/c runners might try to take him out

Im sure thats what the opposing team is thinking about
I do kinda see where it could piss off the opposing team but then again, we are LSU. We win games, and Championships. I think it should be allowed until he blows a save and then taken down. Maybe after that he has to earn it back again

ll intro music has to be approved by someone for appropriateness. while the song may not curse of have other overtones, i'd argue that it's still inappropriate as it pertains to baseball

So is the intimidator, how arrogant of LSU to show off like that. It's not that I 100% disagree with you, but I am not sure this is soapbox worthy. LSU has channeled arrogance in baseball since the 80s.

i agree, I can see both sides...but thats baseball, its entertainment, the booth guys and sports media guys have to think of and do different things to make the atmosphere into a money maker...Its about atmosphere...Pros do it...I think as far as class goes, I see what the other person who started this thread is looking at but your looking at it wrong, those guys compete, its not cocky, its confidence...coaches preach playing with confidence...

The intimidator is not arrogant. It says the EXACT same thing as college basketball teams hanging banners in the rafters. Unfortunately we can't hang banners from open air.

You must have never played baseball. Closers better have this attitude are they are done.

Not classless at all get a life. There is some serious sh!t that gets talked on the baseball diamond so this is nothing new or doesn't surprise me at all.

Plus, It is TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having flags waving around your stadium is not arrogant. Having a plaque in front of your stadium is not arrogant. Putting a billboard directly facing your opponents dugout (you realize the billboard in not in left field) is pretty arrogant.

i love swaggar and confidence, but this is too much

show much another pitcher and another program that does this

you're really sounding like a pussy on this one rouge. All closers come in with a song that has a little swag to it. Rivera, Hoffman....

and they put it up on the scoreboard? That's even fricking better. LSU is finally doing something right for a change.

So 10 banners hanging from Pauley Pavilion from the 60's and 70's is arrogant.

Your right. They wouldn't see it if it was in left field.

Nope, I'm sure they are all around the gym. But they aren't specifically shoved in their face.

LSU has 3 national titles in football. I see the flage in Tiger Stadium. I see a couple of spots around the stadium. But the billboard at the baseball field is equivilant to parking LSU's equipment truck (with all of the national titles listed) on the opponents sideline.

Disclaimer: I'm not against the Intimidator. I have just been pointing out that LSU baseball does have some arrogance associated with it. But with what they have accomplished over the last 20 years, they have earned it.
