So your real concern is that he won't be able to back it up.
everything is great when all is going well, but the fanbase will be ON HIS arse the second any adversity comes up, and i think a lot of it would comes from this arrogance
i believe in doing things differently on a ball field

...don't worry...soon as the Ottster gets hammered for a bunch of runs and gets the " W " - that shite will come down...

how many blown saves will it take for you to retract this?
If Matty Ott blows a save, it wouldn't even cross my mind that it had something to do with something on the board. Or because of music playing.
You claim you like swagger? But ONLY after you get the job done. That's pussy swagger son, gtfo.

Do you also frown on:
The Intimidator
Dean's song with an air raid siren
The BOOM video when LSU is coming to bat
The constant throwing out 6 NC's on the screen
Not the same.

Anybody can run their mouth after they do a job. Only the elite can tell you before hand, and then do it.

I don't mind it. it gets the fans pumped up...and a closer feeds off the energy of the situation...that's why alot of closers struggle when it's a 4 run game and they are brought in compared to say a 1 run game.
When Seattle had Kazuhiro Sasaki and they played his song....the fans got pumped..and you knew the game was in good hands..and he fed off the crowd.
I'm sure it's the same way when Yankee fans here Enter Sandman crank up.
Closers feed off energy...sure it's kinda like a WWE intro..but when fans here the song...they know who's coming..and it creates that buzz.

T. Hoffman still enters the game to Hell's Bells, it's quite the rush, and he seems to get it done.

Do you remember when on Championship Sunday during the regionals the Advocate would run a chart showing how LSU had never lost on Championship Sunday under Bertman? They would include all regional finals, CWS finals, etc. LSU was about 19-0 in those spots until they finally lost the first game of a championship round to Va. Commonwealth (or somebody like that) in 2001. Tulane finally beat them in the 2001 Super Regionals. The Advocate still runs stories showing LSU like 28-3 (or close to it) in those situations.
This was purposely done as a reminder to the visiting teams that, "LSU doesn't lose here very often." It was all part of the mind game being played by the home team to send the message to the opponent that LSU expects to win today.

How about LSU hitters receiving a handoff from Javi Sanchez when rounding the bases on homeruns?
That's way more offensive to an opponent than a jumbotron video playing Game Over.

Rouge is right in this one, but he'll never win this argument on the rant. To play the song is one thing, but to put up in words on the jumbotron that the game is over, is bush league and un-LSU like.

I don't understand why one form of media is ok to send a message (music), yet it's not acceptable to display a message? please explain

That's twice I've seen somebody insinuate that LSU baseball is above this. The huge fricking billboard is named the "Intimidator". It faces the opponents dugout. In the old box, the national championship years were written on the opponents dugout. The LSU fans taunt relief pitchers as they warm up in the bullpen. The outfield crowd mocks the outfielders during the games. Some in the crowd chant "Ball 4" in hopes of the opposing pitcher walking another batter. The jumbotron shows constant reminders of all of LSU's past achievements. LSU players point to the crowd when rounding bases on big homeruns (at home and in Omaha). One of the most beloved Tigers of all time once said to a news reporter that, "Miss State dogpiling after winning the SEC tournament shows why they won't win a regional, and we'll be in Omaha."
This all is a measure of intimidation to the opponents. LSU, since 1984, has not been free of arrogance when it comes to baseball.
