Laird got three hits today, but let's not kid ourselves, his hardest hit ball of the day was a fly ball that the left fielder had to run up for.

But I did like to see him pull the inside pitches today.

Yep his dad had a talk with him about this. No I don't know the Lairds but I know some very good friends of the family. We'll see how the advice goes from here on out.

A good hitter shouldn't pull every pitch, but when the pitch is inside you can't try and inside-out it to left field. Laird hadn't pulled many balls this year, and teams were just hammering the inside half of the pate on him.

Which is why I asked about letting him pull it and hit behind the runners instead of sacrifice bunting.

Like I said, soon as he got used to SEC pitching he would come round and show us why the folks from Monroe knew this kid could do it on the next level.

I agree with you on this. I played ball with his dad. Great family and I think he is a fantastic competitor that will go far!
