You can lock both of those in. No doubt about it.

The last part is funny because it's sad, but true. A backhanded shot at Brady.

Johnson's arrival has changed things on and off the court for the Tigers, who look to have a clue this season.

Johnson, yes. But Thornton will still have a tough time beating out Meeks. Not saying it can't happen, but it is far from a lock.

That's great that one writer gets it, but the second writer picks Meeks. The thing that I don't understand is he says that Meeks is the most consistent scorer. How can you say that when he has 3 big games which means that he also had some bad games. Thorton is the most consistent and best all-around player in the SEC this season. Meeks may be more athletic and have better pro potential, but this year Thorton was a little better in my opinion.

Johnson is a lock. Thornton may have a tough time edging out Meeks and his blue and white jersey. Thornton deserves it though, he's the best player on (by far) the best team and his stats are very comprable to Meeks'.

looking at the game Sat. Thornton def outplayed him, he bodied him up and everything, Meeks tried to shoot like him from the outside, but didn't have the range, I LMAO

And how many times exactly did Meeks get his shot blocked against LSU?

unless Meeks goes for 50 one of these next two games, its Thorton's to lose

frick yes! The only reason Meeks is being considered is because he scores three more points and plays for UK. Marcus, Taz, and Calathes all deserve it more.

As I've said many times, there's more to being the best player than scoring points. It's not a scoring title, it's for the best bball player in the league, and Thornton is a more complete player than Meeks.
In the final minute of the LSU - KY game, if the situation was reversed and it was Meeks who had the ball and not Thornton, does he pass to his teammate who has a better look, or does he force up a shot through a double team? Marcus does what is needed for his team to win. He's the SEC POY, regardless of the official outcome of the voting.

FWIW, I think that it bodes well for Marcus that he was named SEC player of the week following the head-to-head with KY and Meeks.

Nah, it's about being a great player on a great team. Nick Calathes is the best player in the league as far as what he does for UF. The fact that LSU is much better record wise puts it in Marcus' favor. Also, Marcus and Taz can't 100% shine individually with each other around since they share the glory.

No doubt, Thornton's play this year has been incredible.

I wouldn't say we are "by far" the best team in the SEC. I'd say that if we played Kentucky 10 times, we'd split with them 5 and 5. That Kentucky game was insanely close and LSU and them are definitely equal I think. The Florida game was close at times, but the game was pretty well in hand in the second half, but still a pretty close game. If we played Florida 10 times, we'd maybe edge them 6 to 4 or 7 to 3.

i wouldnt say we are "by far" better but they are not by any means equal to LSU.. maybe in talent and i may even give them the lean in that category but our starting 5 is hands down the best in the SEC
