Why does Mainieri even mention Dean playing in the outfield? Doesn't he know the rantards have already said he will play 1st?

Yeah, I mean if his arm is a liability I don't think OF is the place for him. Plus it would kinda defeat the purpose of him coming back if baserunners are able to take advantage of a "small" arm all season. If he can play 1st base anywhere near Ochinko's capability and swing the bat like he always, for the most part, has, it'll be all good for Dean.....

i understand in high school he could bring a 93 MPH fastball .. then, all of a sudden, for no reason whatsoever, his arm just went dead, no injury at all ..

Mainieri said on local news that his arm has been damaged since he arrived at LSU. Said they will explore surgery if he stays at LSU.

Did you just crawl out from under a rock? Did you listen to the audio? I never said Dean's arm WAS a liability......I said if it is, like Mainieri thinks could be a possibility, it would defeat the purpose of coming back if it presents Dean in a negative light on defense, ie. his draft stock would probably go down.....

But since you asked.......

A lot of times pitching causes arms to become liabilities do to the riggors of being the stud pitcher he probably was growing up....their injuries are more often shoulder related, and such. If they can swing a bat, they DH until a spot in the field can be found, if one can be found at all. If they can't swing a bat, they coach or (fill in the blank with any profession under the sun that doesn't require throwing stuff hard).
