Guilbeau is spot on ...hate on the dude all you want, but he's right on this one... nobody is screaming about our D right now because we are undefeated, but there are some serious issues there

he is dead right when he mentions the fact that we haven't even played a half-decent offense yet and have been exploited on a ton of big plays...Florida has the playmakers to hang 50 on us and then the Rant will be on meltdown mode

Solution = beat the shite out of cupcakes like a bully blitzing than taped your balls up under you any time you play any offense with a passing threat.

Probably reasonable advice for genuineLSUtiger.

Obviously this was discussed earlier, but it is amazing to me that folks are clueless as to whom authors this crap.

DID YOU EVEN LOOK TO SEE WHO THE AUTHOR OF THAT BS HIT-PIECE IS?!!!?

Come on people!

Glenn-F'ing-Guilbeau?!!?
Glenn"I'll-make-up-a-story-if-I-don't-have-one"Guilbeau?!!?

I'd bet a ton of money that Jones NEVER said ANYTHING near
"the defensive plays are getting to the field late this season because of poor sideline management."

When it's established that Guilbeau took "artistic license" with a 19 yr old's quote to try to stir up controversy, I'd hope The Town Talk has their severs completely clogged with email responses from across the state. GG is a Bob Woodward wannabe, but he's a Jayson Blair emulator. He writes fiction as fact, fact as fiction, all the while diss'ing his alma mater with impudence and apparent impunity. He has a laziness, and lack of skill that he covers with a correspondent lack of ethics.

<more from earlier today>

The "because of poor sideline management" phrase was Glenn Guilbeau at his worst --- confabulating, sensationalizing and then hiding behind the petticoats of a 19y/o to try to get away with it. He is truly pathetic.

Ah heck, bring back Lou Tepper!! He will fix our communication problems. The players will have to stand on their dots, on the sideline, before being allowed on the field.

If you are referring to 2008, the statement above is closer to the truth. If you are referring to 2005 - 2007, then you my want to look at the hint again.

The scheme is awful. Playing 10 yards off the receivers allows them to run free...see Auburn. Chris Todd throws for 250 yards and he is terrible and their receivers are not much better.

What bothers me a bit is the D has looked a little tepperesque the past two weeks.

Anyone remember how bad our defense was to start 2005. Then we finished 3rd in the country. Same types of issues. They will get it figured out. We have very smart coaches and les wont let this continue. I just think it takes time to put in different schemes. Give mallory and peveto this bye week. If the defensive backs come out confused on every other play against florida, then I will start bitching about it. My point is we can fix it, I think we will, and most importantly, it hasn't cost us yet.

if the coaches don't start getting the plays in sooner, we can expect to see alot more no-huddle in the games to come.
Mile's gameday coaching has always made me nervous. His coaches having to call a timeout for him, the end of the Arky game...

If the Defensive coaches are calling the calls late then that usually means they're having problems recognizing the offensive play. I sure hope this is not the case. Damn I sure hope this is not the case.

Bo Pelini is gone and now we have two defensive coordinators who can't get the call in on time.

No, it means they are trying to sub players in and out too much. Those are the players that don't know the plays.

Probably some truth to that.

However, after attending the AU game I can tell you that LSU's defensive substitutions were precise and very well executed vs an up-paced no-huddle offense. Auburn was shifting personnel sets nearly every play trying to create mismatches. They got very few. Perhaps LSU's substituted players didn't know the play, but they seemed well organized against an attack designed to make them look otherwise. Don't know what the interplay situation was vs MSU. It's hard to discern on TV. Insofar as Auburn, the defense seemed OK and antithetical to Guilbeau's assertions.

Of course my observations might not be as well honed as Glenn's. After all, I didn't see our non-SEC caliber QBs throwing consistently errant passes causing media members to duck on the sidelines either. </sarcasm>
