I hope LSU moves a chunk of the students up to the upper deck. Other universities do it. There are plenty of people who would take over those seats.

And then people will piss and moan when they hear all the cursing in the upper deck

I'm already organizing a face painting effort. Small fee of $2-5 and you can stand tall and curse all you want.

Pricing:
Gold or Purple one color: $2
Sting: $4
William Wallace: 5$

But it won't be on TV and it won't be the majority of the stadium hearing it. Smaller groups of people are easier to control.

Eh, I think it would make it worse.

Why aren't they doing that to the students? Surely some of the season ticket holders in the NEZ could text if it was such an issue, right?

You have to be pretty specific in your request for help. ETA: You also have to be able to text. In a crowd of 92K, it's often a "no service zone" inside of Tiger Stadium. I've only seen people with Verizon iphones able to text. The ONLY game where I was able to watch replays on ESPN on my phone was the Auburn game. I have had little or no service at any of the other home games.

I have good vision but I can't see from Section 244 what section and row across the stadium where someone is cursing.

LSU is aware of the problem and I trust they will take care of it as they see fit.

I mean there really is nothing they can do short of not having a student section, and I just don't see that happening.

undeniable.

I mean hell, it was before my time but didn't they used to have a chant about rice coming out of a chinaman's arse? That's far more inappropriate than STTDB.
Forgot about that, and you're absolutely right.

Yet, I'll bet some of those in this thread bitching about STTDB used to do the chinaman chant themselves.
Likely. The MPLP have proven themselves very often hypocritical.

There is plenty they can do.

They can put specifics in the Student Code of Conduct.

They can put a clause it in their ticket purchase that if caught doing specific behaviors in public then their tickets will be revoked and their future ability to purchase ANY tickets will be questionable.

It all depends on how serious LSU is on stopping the STTDB chant.

I think you do, actually.

How is calling a hypocrite a hypocrite weak and valueless.
It isn't. You called me a "sorry sack of crap." You're supporting language policing, but you're namecalling. Off with you, hypocrite.

Not that will be effective.

Kind of like the rules already in place at the stadium?

Logistical nightmare.

If they were serious, they'd scrap Neck for at least 4 years to make that chant forgotten among students. That is the only thing that has any chance of stopping it. Until they do that, I question how serious they actually are.

It's not just Neck that STTDB chanted to and people LIKE Neck. It pumps up the crowd.

Now that you have been proven to be hypocritical, you are trying to deflect this to others? Lame.

Im a season ticket holder and Alumni and facility and think STTDB is NBD. A lot more problems than college students being college students

Why? Because you don't understand it. That makes no sense.

I am supporting the university doing what it needs to police itself, just as you said you did (and are now trying to crawfish out of). Actually, we are agreeing in this, to let the university police itself. So besides trying to detract from this point, do you have anything intelligent to state?

Yes you are, and it would be awesome if somebody would shut you up.

If you cannot comprehend what the modicum of acceptable behavior is at a public event, then you are beyond help. You can be loud without yelling about fellatio.
Not for you, Queen of Pious, to decide. Profane chants by students at college sporting events predates the incandescent bulb and have been within the friendly confines of the modicum of acceptable behavior the entire time, and it shall be so as long as there are colleges and sports, and you are powerless to this inevitability.

Dismount the high horse, you bossy lady.
quote:

As someone stated earlier, what speech is acceptable and what is not depends on the audience.
No, it depends on the speaker. I decide what is acceptable for me to say, and you decide what is acceptable for you to say. Otherwise, you're bossing people around.
quote:

It is my business. I represent LSU whenever I wear the purple and gold. As an LSU grad, it is MY university. I want people to respect it.
You won't respect the students' practice of chanting freely, yet you want to be respected yourself. Good luck, hypocrite.

And no, it isn't your business. You have no say over what other adults choose to say. The idea that it is your business is crazy.

No, it is up to the university to decide, which you agree with. Unless some of us here work for the university, we are not deciding anything. So what is your point?

No, it actually depends on the forum that you are speaking at. In this case, it is a university event and they are deciding it, as is their right.
