I think we should start a street hockey team. But if we do decide to start playing hockey its not the worst idea I've ever heard. The SEC is the best at Football, Baseball, Track & Field, Gymnastics, & we do have 2 out of the last 3 Titles in Basketball. It will only be a matter of time before the SEC is the best at hockey.

was bored, did some random searching, found this topic & decided to chime in on this topic.
ice hockey cannot become a varsity sport before the likes of men's soccer, rugby, wrestling, or lacrosse; all of which have been established club teams for many many more consecutive years than hockey at lsu in the club system-and according to university by-laws pertaining to varsity sports programs-that statistic takes precedent, among many in the considerations of declaring a program varsity level. (unless the SEC/NCAA as a whole led a drive to make it a priority for every current SEC team to establish a varsity program for hockey=highly unlikely).
also, a women's sport has to become varsity level first. as of 2004 the next women's sport in line to become varsity is the Equestrian team (unless that has happened already or not, i haven't heard it had). and then 1 men's team, then another women's team, and so on.
additionally: if you want to look for some REAL tigers on campus. look no further than the guys & girls who play club sports. every member of every club team raises money for their program to even take the field. they buy their own uniforms, pads, cleats, team equipment, referee/judge/field/field lighting costs, and even compensation for their coaches. all for the glory to play/represent LSU in a way they love.

You sure you're not getting them confused with Auburn?
