Yea, it's not BS. It's just like people thought all last year Mickey is a good defender because he can get blocks. Hickey is a poor defender because he's lazy. He got steals because of our full court press. Watch the way Gray pressure guards, particularly when they get to mid court. Our big men are doing a poor job rotating, and they are allowing 3's to be made off of screens. You can't ask a guard to fight over every screen.

On offense, he shot ALL but 90 of his shots from 3...and he only made 34%. He just settled for throwing shite up. Look at the game logs. There are 7 games he took 5 shots or less. He averaged over 30 minutes a game, as well. He wasn't aggressive and never dictated play unless it was a televised game then he did.

There is no denying Anthony Hickey has skill, that's why I say he's lazy. He has lots of skill but never exerted himself. Just because we press and he tries to intercept a pass like a safety doesn't make him a great hustle guy...just means he wants an easy steal. There's a reason he got suspended from the team multiple times and we didn't offer his scholly back to him. People are also forgetting that sure, Hickey would be a great PG to play 10-15 minutes a game, but he would NEVER want that role so it would hurt your team.

LSU's biggest problem right now is cohesiveness and finding a post game.

This, and it was the same problem last year. It's poor communication, execution and awareness more than anything. Things IMHO that can be fixed, but still keep happening.

I don't know if that is 100% accurate. Hickey was a completely different player his Fr. year as opposed to his Sophomore and Jr. years. That first year he attacked the lane often. He had excellent touch on his floater and could get to the goal. Under JJ he was a different player. He never attacked the basket. His primary job was to dump it inside to JOB. On defense he was lazy, but really (outside of the times LSU had to press) so was everyone else. More than anything has been a common thread under Jones. LSU starts out in good position then one screen happens and they completely lose track of who they're guarding.

Ok, let's just blame Jones. But you said it yourself, he basically just followed everyone else. Didn't attack on offense so seems passive, and on defense didn't care. I want my PG working his arse off. Gray has struggled so far, but he tries to get in the lane, he guards his man tight on the ball.

I see his man get by him with Gray trailing behind trying to poke the ball out quite frequently. I have also seen some backdoor cuts and breakdowns in defense where Gray is standing around guarding no one at the end of the play. I do not consider Gray to be a very good defender. Not that he doesn't have other skills or won't develop this season.

I agree, mcgrath...I don't see the suffocating on ball defense from Gray he sees.

Still, the issues on defense under CJJ have always been much deeper and far reaching than the guards, and the issues are the same this year. The bigs are the bigger issue this year and were the bigger issue last year IMHO.
