You do have locals.

I love how everyone seems to know what he has. There are places in the state where you can not get local channels through Directv. Get an antenna.

I have direct. But I had to get CBS and ABC channels from NYC. It's channels 62 and 63. I believe. I'd call them and ask them about it. Those channels are included in some programming package.

Even if he doesn't get the locals, shouldn't he still get some kind of ABC feed?

not on mine :( it's not avaiable in alexandria yet.. i'm gonna call then on my break to see what I can do, if I can't get anything through them i'll just buy a digital air receiver to catch the locals.

I had the same issue when I lived in Lake Charles. No locals....it was infuriating until I figured out what to do..

Do this: call them and tell them you moved and need to change your local channel package. Pick an address in BR or something (make sure it's one that doesn't have DTV nor ever will.. preferably an old relative). Also, make sure you change your billing options to online as you won't get a paper bill anymore. They changed mine without any questions...you may lose local news, but frick it IMO. I was not about to miss football because the local affiliates wouldn't sign an agreement with DTV.

go to walmart. drop $30 bucks on a philips antenna. you will not only get all locals, but they will be in HD. Yes, it's that easy. unless HD tvs aren't available in your area either.

I live in louisiana, so does that mean I won't be able to see this game on my tv?

Okay, I'm going to assume you live in an area that doesn't have a "local" ABC affiliate, yes?

If that's the case, I had the same problem at my camp. Along with no local channels, I had an old-style analog TV (not digital). If you have an analog TV, I'd suggest buying a digital converter box & antenna for your TV, along with a switchbox that allows you to easily switch between "regualar TV" and DIRECTV. You'd be surprised what channels you can pick up- even in remote areas.

I went through the whole bit with DIRECTV last year over this before we played UNC, and there was no fast (or free) solution to the issue. I got the digital tuner & antenna, and we were GTG.

Yep, it sure is. If you don't live in a "metro" area, you're pretty much SOL.

My camp is East/NE of Alexandria (about 30 miles as the crow flies)- and I get the Monroe ABC affiliate. Go figure.
