That loss doesn't bother me that much.

Yes but I wasn't there for that one, I hadn't planned my New Years and drove 11 hours for it.
I wasn't drunk and talking shite the last 48 seconds when JR threw the touchdown.

LSU vs Iowa is the one loss that still haunts me because it was so unexpected and I had expected so much. It being my senior year and not missing a home or away game for 5 seasons it meant something different to me.

Wasn't there a questionable play or penalty at the end of that game? I thought I remembered that but could be wrong........

See the pictures someone posted... LSU fans will always claim the holding... I just saw a good ballgame that ended badly...

The only reason some of you are saying it was meaningless is because we lost. Had we won, people would have been saying what a fine comeback it was and how LSU beat another Big 12 opponent. That game was the difference in finishing another season with 10 wins.
It speaks much better for a program when you look back on a decade and see double digit wins six times instead of five.

Truth. Bowl games always matter. Y'all deniers sound like Bama people.

If Bowl Games did not matter, they would not be bragging about the Peach bowl win this past season....

Bowl games matter and should be played to win. Bowl games should be the absolute number 1 focus, but in reality this was not the case in this one. Two events superceded this game in the minds of the fans and the players:

1 After a four week circus, Nick Saban decided he was leaving LSU. The most successful LSU coach by far since Mac. Opps, he also decided he would grace the masses by coaching one last time SIX DAYS AFTER TAKING ANOTHER JOB!!! I'm sure he and the players were totally focused on beating Iowa.

2. After a great five year run, who would be named the next coach. I'm not saying it's right, but you have to believe it changed focus of the players.

Also, for the hell of it, Nick thought it would be a good idea to have Flynn play a couple of quarters. Russell played all year, but Nick went with Flynn. Nick would not have to take heat from the fans and media no matter how Flynn played because he was not going back to BR.

It was a pedestrian effort by a coaching staff that carried over to the players. Most fans had to think this type of effort was possible if not probable.

I agree players focus wasn't there....

Still doesn't change it was last game of my senior year and we lost on a last second play as our coach just walked away...

I assure you the loss hurt you and me more than it did Saban. It was his old job, but it was the team we love. Always remember that players and coaches come and go, but LSU is bigger than all of them.

As for your last game deal...I was there for Archer and Hallman so no pity for you.

I was there.... just not as a student...

I sat through many Texas A&M blowouts....

I actually was able to talk to Saban the day before game after practice. He had stopped by fans and was chatting it up with us until too many people surrounded him.

I actually saw a couple of arse whippings we gave A&M. Even better, I had about 15 A&M fans stay at my apartment after we beat them 27=0 in1988. Good bragging rights there.

Very nice. You must remember 82 Fla st orange game. Do you remember Mike the Tiger Scalping the Seminole mascot at mid field before the game? It was staged, but damn the stadium went nuts.

My expectations of a signature performance were low. It's just the way it was. The best thing about the game was how excited we all were that Russell played so well.

This. That game was the 2nd time that I knew JaMarcus would be special. The first time was the win against Oregon St.
