Hell they barely followed football for 7-8 years in the 90s.

Bingo, people want to follow a WINNER. This isn't unique to just LSU. When LSU Basketball was a consistent winner during the 80's, you couldn't find a seat in the PMAC.You had people camping out for regular season basketball games, this doesn't happen for baseball games. Back in the 80's before Skip took the program to unbelievable levels, baseball attendance was an absolute joke. What do you think baseball attendance would be like if LSU missed the post-season for a few consecutive seasons? IF LSU can put together a few good seasons in basketball, the fans will return to the PMAC.

i have issue with the directors cup because stanford has every single sport that is on it and we dont.
Why have an issue with it? Do you really want fencing & lacrosse to be collegiate SEC sports?

how many people nationally have the slightest clue any of these guys played for LSU?

When I've attended college fairs here in the L.A. area, I have more kids and their parents ask me about LSU baseball than anything else. They know major league players that played at LSU and they know quite a bit about the program.

At most other schools I agree with this statement, but I would be willing to say (and I don't have the figures) that LSU's baseball program brings in as much as the basketball program.

that's a really dumb thing to say

Revenue has nothing to do with fans interest. Look at the PMAC and then go to Alex Box. Tell me who has more fans. I've been to Omaha and the Final Four. LSU brought much more to Omaha. Therefore IMO it doesn't matter how good basketball is, the people of Baton Rouge just don't care a whole lot. Sure they get excited in March if LSU is still playing but up until then, most LSU fans don't care much.

lsu baseball is popular because they win consistantly. if they were losing there would be plenty of empty seats at the box. when lsu basketball was winning in the late 70s, 80s and early 90s the crowds were big. i don't have the list but lsu probably still has 3 of the top 10 all time biggest crowds for the regular season.
