I clarified myself and said this decade because that is when they really did become a powerhouse and yet you babble on!
You clarified what decade as I typed my response so I did not see that you meant since 2000 until after I posted my response. Sorry! LSU has been ranked in the Top 10 in the last 10 years 4 times. It's not like we are ranked there every year like you seem to think. The only rankings I care about are where we finish. Having said that, I do agree that other schools get hyped up way too much but with the way our QB's have played the last two years, that is why we are not being hyped and a #15 to #20 ranking seems about right to me since we had the 112th ranked offense in the country last year and our QB's looked not so good in the spring game. You are correct in the fact that we are loaded with talent though.

No, the media loves coaches that they love to worship like Saban, Meyers, Carroll, Stoops, the Mack Browns, etc.
I respectfully disagree. Look at all the so called love the media gave Fat Charlie at Notre Dame. Lots of national fans. Lots of attention.
The media is quick to turn on them too. Remember the jokes about Meyers' retirement? Saban's lying?
Love is measured by money. Just sell ads, baby.

be consistently in the Top 10, my how the mighty have fallen, even with all that talent, the nations best CB, and 3 talented WR's that could match Julio Jones and AJ Green the media shows no love, wtf

that's because Fat Charlie had one winning season with Ty's players and they(the media) jumped on the bandwagon because after all it is Notre Dame, after that he completely went downhill, but they were still showing him love sayin he could turn it around.
on the other hand, Miles and LSU stays loaded, but doesn't get the hype like certain coaches!

Charlie was immediately canonized on the day he took the job. All the Domers were panting, buying up every newspaper and sports mag in sight. The radio and television guys and gals were positively orgasmic over Charlie. All because of the subway alumni.
Charlie slips and the love is gone. That's sports biz.

I honestly didn't feel like we were that much more respected when we had saban.
This is not a knock on saban. More a knock on the national media.

I can remember being happy we were ranked at all. Just win and the rest will sort itself out.

You are probably right. The USC national championship fiasco was a result of catering to the greater population in California.
Keep it up men. I have to bow out.

Good deal, had you said since 2000 I would have agreed with you from the start but I do think our current rankings are fair for now even though you and I know LSU would stomp half the Top 25 even if we only scored 17 points in the entire game. I think had Ryan Perrilloux kept out of trouble these last two years would have been a whole lot better but it is what it is. I tell you what though, I've sat through some not very good decades though. The 90's were just brutal. I'm hoping we get our act together this year though. Every time I watch these pre-season NFL games I see nothing but LSU boys on all these teams and some of these kids from the last two years are looking good in the NFL preseason. No doubt about it, LSU is loaded for bear with talent this year!

Watch and see, with this new coach Notre Dame has, if he wins the first 5 games, they will rank them in the Top 10 without a doubt and crown him in the same league with Saban, Meyer and some of the other well respected coaches out there. They say it's good for college football for Notre Dame to be good but personally I like it when they suck!

its all perception and a lot of that is based on how you finish the previous season, we looked like crap to finish the season and therefore nobody think we will be worth a damn this year
I guarantee we are top 10 worthy but I would rather be underrated than overrated, like quite a few teams appear to be.

I can agree with that, but a lot of how we looked towards the end of last season had to do with terrible coaching, that Miles fiasco(Ole Miss game) with him scracthing his head while being interviewed by Tracy Wolfson was embarrassing.
