The gold pants, white jerseys, and gold helmets are superterrific. If a not-so-savvy football fan somewhere in the country will recognize something, he will recognize that elite uniform. Keep it simple. Don't change something unless it is broken.
Considering that tradition (that is, what works) is a powerful force that rational people often cannot justify or refute with the limited tool of logic, it would be interesting to hear some reasoned arguments for change.

Some of our fans have no sense of tradition. The uniform we wear is not just a shirt and a pair of pants. It's armor that you wear with pride, not some clown costume like Oregon like to wear.

Well, it certainly did not work for Arkansas. I just as soon keep what we have and focus on winning the game.

I wish we would wear our purples more. Best uniform in college football but we're too "traditional" to wear it. I love and appreciate tradition, but dammit, I love those purple uni's.
I dunno about "Louisiana" down the side of the pants, but I welcome some alterations. I liked the pro combat jerseys (esp the helmets and -real gold-)

The deep purple jerseys, in addition to lacking traditional national championships, are drab. Deep purple is nearly black, which is the ultimate drab color, or perhaps lack of color. Many colleges have drab jerseys, which is not all bad when combined with white pants. The problem is many colleges have drab jerseys with white pants. The issue it seems is not whether purple-and-gold is bad but whether white-and-gold is best for LSU.
