There's a large core of students who truly care about basketball, but the rest of the students just show up if they get word that ESPN is covering the game or its a football points night.
I remember twice last year where this was so blatantly evident. Against South Carolina, I went to the game about 20 minutes before tip-off and didn't get in the pit. Found out later that it was a points night. And then the Xavier game last year when it was a packed house and we waited for 3 hours before the game. We lose and then the next Sunday against Alabama, it was an empty house.

yea i get to every game i can, but the truth is that we have to be a consistent winner to get the support. It's just the way it is in all sports, nothing different here.

I think part of the problem its just not advertised to get it in students heads there is a game. I'm not saying radio or tv commercials because thats expensive but signs saying basbetball game, give date, etc...at the 7-8 major parking lots on campus.
Another problem is I dont think LSU cares as they do little to promote it or attendance.
if they would allow part time students in free, and faculty and staff for free as well that would really help attendance plus LSU would make some money off concession stand sales.

LSU football and now a baseball school. never really has supported basketball nite in nite out. most schools in sec pack the house every game, with exceptions. i went to arkansas one year with team when they were terrible and the place was packed. final four year played bama for sec crown and didnt sell out. nothing better than a packed house. i remember the nite we beat arizona when they were no 1, it was loud and packed great atmosphere, not many nites since then like that. its just different here, always has been

I dont necessarily agree with that. Many have said fans were hanging from the rafters in the Daddy Dale days

yes but the turnout is pathetic and an embarassment for an sec school.

Is there a special entrance or time that students have to be at for the swipe of the ID card?

THERE WERE A FEW YEARS BUT FOR THE MOST PART IT WAS AVERAGE AT BEST, AS LONG AS THEY WERE WINNING

The student gate is located on the Tiger Stadium side of the PMAC at the top of the east ramp. Gates open an hour and a half before tip-off. Like others said, no one really shows up unless it's a big game so you could show up 5 min before tip and still get a good seat for most of the games.

If a student signs up to order football tickets, their LSU email account is saved and the ticket office sends out emails for almost every game. There is also a Facebook group that has close to 600 members last time I checked and the group sends out messages whenever there is a game. But I agree, signs or fliers would be something to look into.

I did not know about the emails for every home basketball game. If thats the case its ridiculous that with 14K students getting emails that only 20-50 show up for some of the games.
A few signs were up last year in some parking lots in the 4-5 games prior to the xavier game and student attendance was pretty damn good. They stopped after the xavier game.
I guess doesnt make much from concessions. I would think allowing faculty and staff and part time students in for free would at least generate a few concession stand dollars.
