I havent kept up like I normally do with baseball, but is it wrong to assume Johnson is looking to have more like an MLB style approach to pitching where we see starters go less deep and more bullpen moving forward? Is it a philosophy change solely for that reason or he just feels like we have very few arms that can be dominant consistently over 5+ innings on this team?
Doesnt seem like we've recruited a lack of quality arms when you look back at some of the pitchers we've signed and also gotten in the portal, so wondering if this is just more a philosophy change due to how things are going in MLB or he just doesnt see a few guys that can go 5+ on a weekly basis? Or maybe he just feels like we have enough quality deep bullpen it would be a shame not to use it heavily?
It seems we whiffed hard on high quality pitchers in the 2018 and 2019 classes, but looks like we've done much better in 2020 and 2021 classes we've brought in.
