Spending the week with my family in New York City and we saw players from the LSU softball team in Times Square. I love that in one of the largest cities in the world, I bump into LSU athletes.

They made it to the Women's College World Series in 2012. They graduated 8 seniors that year. Team has a young pitching staff with several promising young players.

They're 6-9 in SEC play. The first half of their SEC schedule, they played most of the big teams (Bama, Florida, Tenn, and Georgia). The rest of the way is the bottom of half of the conference. They should fair well, but most of those games are on the road and they've been streaky at best away from home (unless at neutral site).

This is a young team and they've finally done what they have struggled to do for years now, hit. The meat of their schedule has passed and they've batted over .300. Each year under Torina they've picked up on their batting average. They seem to be recruiting some great hitters judging from the production of the freshmen and sophomores.

Not very good. 6-9 SEC record. 10th overall in the SEC standings. (No Western, Eastern Divisions anymore).

Actually very exciting to watch and represent LSU very well. They are young as mentioned and play with heart. SEC is loaded this year. Try it sometime...

Was not putting them down. Was just answering a question. Go back a few posts and read my reply. I am very familiar with the LSU softball team. I've been to well over 150 LSU softball games including the World Series.

Sorry, meant to be responding to too lazy kjntgr w/o care. I too wish the standings were better but still enjoy watching them in Sunny Calif...but wish it was HD like baseball.

i still dont know how the frick they lost in the regionals last year, especially at home. they were good enough to make the cws last year. this year they have a good mixture of new and old talent but they havent really hit a stride yet. hopefully the last 2 weeks are going to lead to a pretty good run out of them late.

And they may have the hardest schedule in College softball.

Wow pretty coincidental. I'm here as well and saw them right outside of radio city music hall last night. Pretty awesome

Y'all should go to the games today and tomorrow and "Tiger Bait" some of the locals who might be there. They won't know what hit them!

They play Fordham today at 5 and Hofstra in a doubleheader tomorrow at 4.

The girls record might not be great, but they have taken 2 of 3 from Georgia and Tennessee the last two weekends...they are playing their asses off and are fun to watch.

Sorry, Bel Air, the SEC is not loaded this year. Saying it is, is a misstatement. It is a rather down year for the league.

Maybe considering the last few years although the SEC having 1/2 of the 8 top ranked teams in the country, is not exactly skimpy. And with 1/3 of SEC teams comprising the top 25, out of 335 Division 1 softball teams, cannibalism in the SEC, as in football and some other SEC sports, appears to be the situation in our competitive conference (outside of Fl this year).

Geaux Girls!
