re: LSU should ban Glenn G. from having credentials or a seat in any press

His articles appear in every major newspaper in the state outside of the Advocate and Times Pic because Gannett owns the papers in Shreveport, Monroe, Alexandria, Laffayette, etc.
Although Scooter Hobbes isn't much better.

I'm not saying whether I'm in agreement with banning GG, but if LSU refused to honor his press credentials, they could easily do so.
At that point his status as THE reporter for Gannett on LSU would mean squat. From then on, if they wanted any information from LSU that wasn’t second hand, the Gannett would have to get another reporter. So at least in this sense, LSU has a fair amount of control.

As a former Advocate staff member at the time Guilbeau worked there, I can assure you he's a hack.

I know for a fact that he posts (or has) on this site. Not a regular but lurks daily and has a few hundred posts to his credit. If you're wondering, I know his older brother personally. Older Bro would not give up the username.

If there wasn't a vendetta before, there sure as hell would be one afterwards.
Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, the media wields a mighty big stick. Pissing off the major media conglomerate in the state isn't going to help your cause.
Coaches just wouldn't talk to the press unless they needed them.

The Advocate has a daily circulation of 82,700 (for the 6 months ended 3/31/2011), making it the 99th largest newspaper in the U.S.
I'm not demeaning the value of the smaller newspapers in Louisiana in terms of what they provide to their readers. I'm just saying that Guilbeau is hardly an icon of the sports journalism world, and given his penchant for self-promoting agendas, bias and inaccuracy, it's hard to believe he wouldn't be displaced if Gannett were willing to pay for someone of even modest talents.

They have plenty of control. They can ban him from covering LSU athletics by not issuring crdentials to him. If they did that, Gannett would drop him, being that they probably cannot afford to have a sportswriter in Louisiana not allowed to cover LSU.
That's exactly what happened to Kenny Wilkerson at WWL. The Saints banned him from the facility and the pressbox in the dome and said he was no longer going to be credentialed. WWL said, "Well Kenny, if you cannot cover the Saints, you are of no use to us," and they fired him.

I wasn't allowed sharp instruments, such as pencils. They only let me deal with non-essential items, such as computers.

Well, there must be a reason why LSU hasn't done so as of yet.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was getting at.
It would look mighty bad for LSU to shut out the reporter who has the most readership in the state (sorry, but he does) simply because they don't like what he writes.
I don't think the biggest newspaper conglomerate in the world would take too kindly to that either.

The latest really takes the cake. The kids aren't finished with school, final's haven't been taken, yet he's reporting academic ineligibility and suggesting more.
That was the opposite of what he said on WIST this morning. He said the rumors were premature because finals aren't until next week. He did speculate on the possibility of Lee being suspended though.
Podcast from this morning's Sports Hangover on WIST 690 AM
^ Glenn's segment starts about 26:40 in.
