don't forget to add the SEC team LSU could play in the SEC C.G.

Very stupid statement FYI.

Wrong!

Washington (#4); As long as they have a Pac1 schedule along with Eastern Washington, they don't have nearly as tough a schedule as LSU

Kansas (#3); McNeese, N. Illinois, a sub .500 ACC team, a few sub .500 in conference teams more than weakens the few tough games they do have.

Baylor (#2); Stephen F Austin, Rice, and the same sub .500 teams Kansas gets to play again weakens the few tough games they have.

Clemson (#1); Troy, Wofford, and a MEH Allbarn team without Cam, along with some fluff from the ACC and they may have the weakest schedule of the top 5. They do have a couple nice games... USCe for one.

I have followed Phil Steele for several years, and in the last few years I have noticed 2 things:

1) Whereas he used to almost be an LSU homer in his evaluation of us, he consistently rates us a tad lower than other services the last few years...sure, some of that is warranted due to the QB/offensive woes, but the other ratings have access to that same consiered info....and...
2) He is outsmarting himself with his numerics and the factors.

I'll take this as capitulation and acknowledgment of the validity of my point.

Of course it isn't. I merely pointed out that a particular subset of LSU fans are, in fact, prepared to use the schedule as an excuse for failing to win the SEC in 2011. It's a sad truth. I prefer to judge the coach on whether or not he actually wins championships. To date, he has collected a single SEC title. If he fails to do so this year, he will have one title in seven years. That's not particularly impressive. If he does win an SEC title in 11, then he deserves praise.

Also, there's really no need to resort to juvenile name-calling. I recognize that you you interpret any criticism of Miles as a personal affront, but it isn't intended as such.

link? how did you come to this conclusion?

obviously your hatred for Miles has allowed you to form some type preconceived opinion that all those who think we have a difficult schedule are merely starting the excuses early when in all actuality we're simply stating a fact.

Calm down Choc. He does have a point about the fact that if LSU doesn't win the SEC title this year it will be 1 in 7 years, not very good with the amount of talent he has had. NOT trashing Les. Just stating facts.

Choctaw, I beg of you, be honest here. If Miles fails to win the SEC/NC this season, will there be fans on this very site defending him by arguing that the schedule was simply too difficult to overcome? Of course there will. I'll place a gentleman's wager on it. A beer at the tailgate of your choosing.

Second of all, I have no "hatred" of Miles. I'm on record dozens of times stating that he is a great recruiter, a good motivator, an average to below average tactictian, and a poor gameday coach. I think that is what the evidence to date supports. He could improve or he could decline going forward.

Ultimately, I judge a coach on conference championships. Meyer had two. Saban has three. Spurrier has a multitude. If Miles wants to be considered an elite coach, he needs more than one SEC title. I think it's a very defensible viewpoint.

true...and eventually he'll get it. Hell..he might get 2 in a row. And after he gets his 2nd, 3rd, or 4th there will still be guys out there calling him a shitty coach

All opponents in the bottom third of the 120 FBS schools, along with FCS opponents, should be considered as equivalent in difficulty.

If UT whallops UTEP or Texas State, same freakin thing.

Only thing that makes Colorado's tough is no open date.

That is incorrect. Not only are they playing 13 games this season, they are playing 10 Conference games(teams), though the PAC-12 is counting the Cal game as a non Conference game. Its all because Cal and Col did not want to brake their contract home/home game set years ago. Thus, I believe it just might be the very first time in CF history that a CF team played 10 Conference teams in a season, and make that 11 if Col goes to the PAC-12 Champ game. (though of course Col will suck this year so they have no chance). But still, has to be maybe the hardest schedule ever done in regular season by a team perhaps. I feel bad for them in this years scheduling fluke.
