even if we had to pay him what Chavis got at A&M.
Pay him $1 more, just for good measure.

Our biggest competition for Pendergast may be the Redskins. Has there been any talk about him connected to them or any other NFL opportunities?
Yes!
"Because Pendergast has access to NFL All-22 coaches film, he's been able to study the pro game more than college. He's curious to see whatever nuances coaches come up with for answers to the latest offensive wrinkles. He's especially interested to see how teams try to defend Chip Kelly's Eagles. Last July, the Washington Redskins brought him in to spend two days with defensive coordinator Jim Haslett to help cope with the zone read and Kelly's attack.
"Jon Gruden had recommended me to Jay," said Pendergast, who gave Haslett some pointers for handling the tempo and a whole bunch of other Xs and Os suggestions that the DC would rather not disclose in print.
The two-day tutorial seemed to help Washington against Philly. The Redskins limited the Eagles to just 54 yards rushing on 25 carries in a 37-34 loss. "Jim was happy," said Pendergast. "He called me right after the game." Pendergast also help school the Tennessee Volunteers defensive staff on a few things last June. Pendergast was meeting with Vols defensive coaches while Jon Gruden was there to speak to the UT offensive staff. A year earlier Pendergast spent two days with the Atlanta Falcons' entire defensive staff, helping them defend the Pistol and spread offense. It's all part of the business. Pendergast can learn a few things from them, too."

I don't either. Hell, apparently Chavis didn't personally recruit for shite anyway.

What part of "He is still a possibility" didn't you comprehend? You are the typical RANTER, probably have never heard of this guy before today, yet know for sure within 10 minutes of seeing his name on the internet that he's a home run hire.

seems to have a few duds every year
Pendergast replaced Monte Kiffen at USC and only coached 1 year. He was a DC in the NFL for 6 years which trumps any other name I see. He got called in by the Skins advise on how to stop the Eagles run game. They held them to 54 yards on 25 carries

I don't agree with the argument. It's not like our recruiting has been mediocre.

Yes, thanks, that's why I posed the question, but has there been any actual talk of interest in him from NFL teams, other than his experience lending itself to this possibility?

He coached at USC with Kiffin and Orgeron - if he didn't have talent there, nobody did.

Did you really just ask me for a "Link"?
I've shared that Les has already spoken to Pendergast and what his position is with him. I don't care that you agree or disagree, I'm just sharing the info I was given. It comes from a very trusted and very reliable source. Same source that confirmed who LSU is meeting with this evening - and although it's a long shot - will blow the idea of Pendergast out of the water 100X over. Clancey might happen or it might not, but there's a reason LSU hasn't jumped all over it. It's not the homerun out the park hire everyone wants it to be. If it was, he would be under contract already. For the record, LSU knew Chavis probably going to leave several week ago.
I'm out.
Happy New Year!

he could be waiting to see what maranelli decides to do after this year in dallas, or other nfl jobs. if a guy that qualified doesnt come here it isnt because "not sure about ability to recruit sec". thats just bullshite. just a homer excuse on why we didnt get him.

I don't agree with the argument. It's not like our recruiting has been mediocre.

Would be a great hire. He is more qualified than any other DC in the SEC. Very very impressive resume. Let's get him now.

Do you know me? I don't think you do, so how do you know what kind of info I have or who I'm friend with?
I hate to disappoint you, but I'm not the kind of guy that likes to make up false info and post it. Just skip my posts if you're not interested, I'm 100% cool with that.
